Multiplex Receiver Crystal Question

I have a multiplex PCM Receiver but no multiplex transmitter. I've heard that I can drive this receiver with my JR 10x. Multiplex does not offer channel 24 receiver crystal. I've heard that another manufacturer's receiver crystal will work, but I don't know which one. I would prefer that a Hitec receiver crystal will work so if anyone knows if that will, please tell me as my LHS has my channel in that manufacturer but not in Futaba. I don't think a JR crystal will work.

I called Multiplex yesterday and they told me a Futaba Receiver crystal will work. Two months ago, I asked them the same question and they told me Airtronics crystal. I never tried the airtronics, I got on to other things. But I want to use this receiver now and I'm back on the question.

No no no. MPX got rid of PCM years ago (it is correct that PCM transmission schemes are proprietary). All MPX modern transmitters will transmit primarily in PPM (I know the Profi 4000 still has a MPX PCM mode in case you have old MPX PCM receivers). Why would you want to use a PCM receiver if you own an IPD receiver? IPD is an intelligent version of PPM that will give you the benefits of PPM with the fail safe of PCM. If Ernie says that another brand of crystal will work in a MPX receiver and you get a good range check, then I would be confident that all is well as you will have the best transmission scheme available. I have been flying MPX IPD for well over two years now (IPD 9 for .75 years and IPD 12 for the rest) and never an issue with the INCREDIBLE range that I have NEVER had from Kraft, JR, or Futaba!

To use a MPX transmitter, in the USA, with a Futaba PPM receiver (or anything that is the same shift as Futaba), you must first have Ernie Pritchard do a mod. Stock, the TX works with any JR shift PPM receiver. Ernie installs a "shift switch" that allows you to change shift from positive to negative so that you may use any PPM receiver. I have the switch, but since I now have a bunch of IPD MPX receivers, I don't use it much anymore.

you can also order a futaba shift module for you r transmitter
i just purchase a 3030 . it will only work with jr receivers . i have to purchase a another module for futaba receivers. i dont like the idea to have a swicht selector in the transmiter that change shif of the ransmitter.changing modeles in the 3030 is a matter of seconds
