He put in the P-80. The pipe just arrived to him today.

holy smokes
Gents,
just got back from Shaun's pad. that bird is one sweet ***** mo Fo. I'm not in a habit of using explicatives to describe an airplane in the public forum, so can you tell I'm excited?
I'm sure Shaun will post pix soon but I'll tell you that it's painted in the VFA-151 "Vigilante" paint scheme. The are a Navy Hornet squadron based in Lemoore California, just a stones throw from Fresno.
It has a flat finish on it with numerous decals, moderate weathering and all flying surfaces (except Rudders) prehinged into the surface. Really Really sweet.
All you would have to do is sand off the Navy scheme, slap on Marines and then you'd have a winner. LOL couldn't resist.
Over to Shaun for whatever questions you might have.

Kevin,
I'm installing the conformal cells that we sell for the kit, then I'm laying up a conformal cell to go right in front of the inlets. I made it out of that green foam that you use for flower arrangements (the real powdery stuff), sanded it to shape, and then I sprayed it with Zinnser primer/sealer. After it's dry, I'm gonna rub it with paste-type car wax (it won't let glue stick to it, but it's not wet or oily), then I'm gonna lay up a fiberglass tank. The only thing I haven't decided yet is whether to use epoxy or polyester resin to do the layup. Is one gonna be more fuel-proof than the other?
Anyway, the cell looks like it holds about 40 oz. Between that and the 31 oz that the conformals hold, it should be enough for a slightly de-tuned P-80.

$1780 for grey color scheme. Rudder are pre-cut. All you got to do is hinges.
I had built 4 ARF F-18 conversion myself. Dry weight about 16-17lbs with my conversion kit.
I finished one low-Vis scheme for John 3 weeks ago. His power by P-80.
John go thru all the ground taxi test already. Hope he test fly her soon and give us some feed back.

Hi,
I'm not avoiding the question, but I'm trying to be careful to stay in compliance with RCU's policy regarding advertising. I think if I mention a price, that will be a violation. Since I've had more than my fair share of violations, I'm just being careful. Anyway, there were no less than four people at my house who are on RCU and know the details. What gives, guys? Tell the folks what they want to know!!!! :-)
Today, with the help of my buddy, we got quite a bit done. The wing servos are installed, the main and nose gear are installed, the vertical stabs are glued on and the rudders are attatched. The BVM Smooth Stop is installed. Tomorrow, we're gonna try to knock as big a dent as possible. Hopefully, by the end of the day, we'll have all the electronics completely finished. We'll see. I'm pretty excited about flying it at Dixie.

who wants pics
well gentlemen, and ladies,
here i am to give you what you have been asking for. your wishes have been heard and it is i that will give you a taste of what ya want. the formidiable yellow aircraft f 18 hornet lo vis gray ARF, yep its an ARF! i was there when the damm box got delivered and this is how this baby came. as you can see things look pretty sweet. this might just be the ticket for those of us that due to other obilgations might have time restrictions ie job, family, a wife or girlfriend that gives you the mean look when your spending the better half of the day in the hanger cutting and sanding, or maybe it is your first kit and want to make sure things got placed together right, or hell maybe your just like the rest of us and got a couple of kits hanging in the garage that havent been started yet. this kit was designed for a df, but if one choose to it would not be a problem to install a p80 and go ballistic. i beleive this guy is going to have hitec servos. latest intel has it that this bird will be at miramar going thru work ups prior to dixie this week. stay tuned for pictures and flight specs as the data presents itself. with out further delay......

F18 ARF
Shaun or yank and bank,
Would love to see some detailed pics of the bottom of this bird, some pics of the inside, and some pics of the electronics install. Also wondering what servos are you using for the different control surfaces.
Tam quoted 1780 as the price, is this accurate and what does it include for that price.
For the final question, are there any mods that have to be done for turbine or are all the mods done for you.
Thanks
Patrick.

Hey Sirrom, How about getting my instructions to me for the Ram curise control that I bought from you. You can fax them to me at 858-451-2783 or scan them and send them to me at [email protected] or even better would be to send them to me at P.O. Box 506811, San Diego, CA 92105-6811. Thanks John.
