Morning all.
I was just wondering if anyone has bought a Jet Tronics single action valve recently? I've recently bought a couple for my Boomerang, and instead of the being supplied with the "pushin" style airline connectors (as shown in the Jet Tronics manual on their website), MIne seem to be fitted with a black plastic base, that has integral "barb" style fittings. No mention of this is made in the instructions (they show the push in style fittings), and I have been trying to find out what size tubing they are designed for.
Cheers

just spoken to "don Ventilo"
they are changing them now to different types.
since as we all now no plastic tubing coming from china or the USA (robart) has exactly 3mm calibrated outside like festo does.
so this can cause a airleak.
that is why they are now supplying brabed so you can pusch your tubing over it.

I actually prefer the barbed fittings (for exactly the reasons you describe, plus it is easier to inspect for duff connections), so there is no problems there. However, do you know if the barbs are designed for a particular diameter tubing? I don;t think the 3mm tubing I was planning to use is going to stretch over the barbs without something breaking, and even 4mm tubing is looking a little tight...

I have two of the single action, New type fitted to my Elan.
I am using 3mm tubing, they work fine, just as the old ones did, but they do look really cheap!!!!!
Only time will tell if they last as well as the Metal cased Jetronic valves.
Regards

Hi Folks,
I'll measure the outside of the barbs in the morning, when I can drag myself out to the workshop. I did try a bit of 4mm PUN tubing (that is just the Festo designation, or part number for the tubing by the way, I think it stands for Polyurethane), and that seems to fit on nicely. 3mm is going to be a really big stretch, although I will try heating it up (thanks for the tip!)
Turbinepeter, do your valves have the push in fittings, or the black plastic base with barbed fittings? Also, whereabouts in Cheshire are you based? I used to live in Northwich, but have since moved to North Wales
Cheers

Yes, I have the new plastic valves with the black barbed fittings!!!! They look really cheap, dont they? You can just make them out in this picture.
I am in Runcorn, and fly down at Frodsham, Just off M56, in fact you can see our field from the M/way.

Hi. Please excuse my ignorance, but what is the Festo PUN ? . Thanks. Paul.
Hi. Please excuse my ignorance, but what is the Festo PUN ? . Thanks. Paul.
sorry i should explain
it is part of the order number festo uses
like example :
PUN-H-3-0.5NT
PUN=tubing H=food industry 3.0=outside calibrated in mm 0.5=wall thickness NT=colorless transparent
color codes
BL=blue
GELB=yellow
SW=Black
NT=Transparent
the pun-h series is mostly used to carry Fuel
the PUN-H series are also besto to use for flexible connections like brakes this stuff is less to collapse
the normal pun series are most used for fixed air conectons
hope this is better..

Hi Folks,
Just measured the barbs, and the biggest part has a diameter of around 3.5mm or so. I think I can just about get the 3mm tubing over the valves, but it is going to take some care
Cheers
