Warwick,
The Mig 15 CG is measured from the rear of the wing root forward. It is measured dry with wheels down. the forward most measurement is specified at 7.75 inches the aft measurement is 7.25 inches. Hope this helps.

Also, make sure you have a full UAT when checking the CG.
On the BVM website in the MiG addendums, it is sugessted that you use the aft CG for better landings, and 35 degrees of flap, instead of the earlier setting of 45 degrees.

In my opinion drawing fuel out of the main tank first, then saddle tanks makes for a more manageable CG for the MIG. The elevator surfaces are small...drawing down the main tank last moves the CG forward during the last 5 minutes or so of flight...thereby restricting flair control just when you need it the most, the landing phase. If the main tank is emptied first, and CG is correct the last 5 minutes of flight is flown on CG, not tail heavy nor nose heavy.
I found the best flying and landing CG location to be at the removable fuselage bulkhead ... showing slightly nose down while suspending it from that bulkhead. Being nose heavy on takeoff, for about the first 4 minutes had no downside, other than requiring a little more ground speed before rotation.
