Default Vindication of sorts

I lost a Eurofighter this weekend. When we pulled it out of the ground (what was left of it) I put everything in a garbage bag.

I thought that I must have put a park flyer receiver in it, (long story), but in sifting through the ruble, I had put an ar 7000 in it.

Some guys were wondering. Well, I hadn't lost my mind after all.

Anyway. It did go into hold, and there was no fire, preprogrammed to shut down.

My local club said I didn't have to crash it to prove jets don't catch fire!

haha. Oh well, I've been thinking it was my fault all week, and decided to actually look and see the receiver.

For those that know the full story, here's the proof.

I don't get it Sean. I had the 7000 in two of mine before the 9000 came out. Are you saying the 7000 is not turbine friendly? I must have had hundreds of flights on mine.

Sorry, I spent 6 hrs at the field wondering why it went in, the stuff was tucked in the trailer. My buddy Luis called, asked what recvr I had in it, I told him the 7000 from last year. He said "You sold that" and he was right, I had sold the dx7 to a friend.

So he asked what I had in it, and it reminded me I had bought a park flyer and park flyr receiver 6 months ago, and then it dawned on me, I must have installed the park flyer receiver in the euro couple weeks ago in a moment of lost my mind.

Well, at that time, that explained the accident in my mind, it was locked up, engine turned off and jet went straight in.

So tonight 4 days later, I decided to go look at the offending member. Well, I had not bought a park flyer recevier I had bought the 7000 for a park flyer.

So now, the crash goes back into the category of mystery......... Wooohahahahaha (my scary sound )

I think that what Sean means is that he is vindicated in the fact that he didnt do something totally headuphisass stupid like putting a park flyer receiver in a $7000 airplane. He thought he did something headuphisass stupid like putting a park flyer receiver in a $7000 airplane but on post mortem he discovered otherwise and thus vindicated. Scotty

Sean, I'd be interested to see pictures of or hear how you had the Rx setup inside the fuse, especially the battery setup. I currently have an AR7000 in my Rafale.

Same way I setup all my jets. I'm not blaming this on the reciever. It has been a very long time since I have centerpunched an airplane due to "magic". Like, this is the first one that I can remember. I have crashed before, but it was obvious (Isobar Pipe collapse exploded the jet, Eurofighter P-160 seized and fire came out the front of the engine, cooked electrical lines, various prop jobs learning to fly).

This is the first airplane I know of that crashed from voodoo that I built and belonged to me (lost one last year owned by a friend and commanded by 14mz).

Either I have been lucky, or built well, who knows. I was over it before it hit the ground, I have ZERO REGRETS, there is nothing I would have done differently now that I know I didn't have my headupmyass.

I spent a few days thinking I did.

It was on a 5400 mah liion recver pack, and same for turbine pack. Through either a duralite reg or MPI, can't remmeber which.

This was not a three second hold receiver reset. The airplane went into lock for over 5 or 6 seconds from loss of control to hitting the ground.

If I had to fasion a guess at this point, I would guess that it was an electrical failure somewhere in the system, maybe inside a servo there was a short? Maybe an extention had a short.

Something like that would be my guess. When I get back next week I will go through all that I have and see if there is anything that is obvious, but I doubt I will find anything.

The front of the airplane is still a foot and a half deep out in the field, I could not pull it out and we didn't have a shovel. The nose gear retract is in there as well along with the strut and wheel.

The batteries are in there too I suppose, when I pulled on the leads, it pulled the leads from the battery! [X(]

Man, it went in good!

GSR, you are spot on!

Sorry to hear this buddy, but glad you were not responsible in the headupyourhiney scenario. Have a great time at Dyess.

I had a window put around my belly button years age just so I could see out during a bad case of "rectocranial inversion". While you are at Dyess ask the guys this "It is true there are only two types of airplanes...fighter and targets" Just remember if you do...use your window.

Hey Luis, just trying to stir up a little "discussion" and get Sean started on one of his famous "rants". Actually I like the Bone and tried to swing an assignment to one many years ago. You guys can carry a boat load of bombs and still go fast too! Gotta like that!
