Default Euro Sport with Vector Thrust - radio setup

Hello guys,

i will soon be building a CARF Eurosport with 2 axis vector thrust (pitch+yaw) with a Merlin MK2 and i would like to use a PB evolution to save some weight over a large PB.

Mind you the PB Evolution has 5 channels only.

Here is the list of servos ill be using:

Elevon 1
Elevon 2
Canard 1
Canard 2
Rudder
Nose wheel
retracts + brakes (only 1 servo with the cool Behotec valve)
turbine throttle (not a servo but uses 1 channel)
Vector thrust yaw
Vector thrust pitch

Anyway, originally i wanted to able to switch canards on and off (coupled with VT pitch) and VT yaw on and off independently, but if ill be using all high torque servos through the Powerbox ill have to change the setup slightly and was wondering what would you guys think.

Here is how i thought about doing it:

CH1 (through PB): elevon 1
CH2 (through PB): elevon 2
CH3 (through PB): rudder
CH4 (through PB): canard 1 + canard 2 + VT pitch
CH5 (through PB): VT yaw
CH6 (direct): nose wheel
CH7 (direct): throttle
CH8 (direct): retracts + brakes

With this setup i could easily set the following modes:

- Basic flying mode (low rates) : only elevons no canards and no VT
- medium rates mode : VT on (both pitch and yaw) with meduim rates.
- high rates mode: VT on (both pitch and yaw) with full rates.

This setup sounds like it might work well, but it does take into consideration that no gyros are used.

Before we go further into setting up with gyros, my main interest in the above setup is:
1. how does the Euro handle flying with canards off ?
2. do you guys think i shall couple the VT yaw with the Rudder channel ? this means VT yaw will always operate with the rudder, and i could simply use lower rates if i have to for take off and landing.

Thanks for the advice.
