Default JMP FIREBIRD videos

Does anybody have any videos of the Firebird? Preferrably one that has a take off and landing in it.

Thanks,
Billy

There is one on Tube. Ali flying with an AMT Olympus.

Edit. I cannot get the clip to play from here. Go to You Tube & search for Firebird jet & it is there.

Here is another short clip from Robrow. It was just a test clip. He may have more footage.

I have more footage of this one (Colin Gardner's Merlin powered) in the camera, can try to post if someone desperately wants to see it. Like the man said....virtually impossible to keep these things framed

Talk about teaser clips...let's get all pumped up and see the plane accelerate up through 100mph....then clip stops?!1[:-]

I second that, I would love to see some video, all that I ever found was the takeoff of Ali.

David S
Just got off the phone with him. Gave me the number of a guy in Texas that may have some video. I guess the file is too large to download ,so he might have to mail a copy.

Turbone, that looks nice. No word of the SE for the 200, don't need it,

Keep us informed of your progress. Where will you be flying it at?

Billy

Now that you have the ALMIGHTY F-BIRD.... The question is will you ever fly it????? There is no need for a 200SE... Those big block blowers spool up plenty quick

In short time Duk. Got to finish what's on the bench now. In the mean time, I can do some homework. Can't wait to build this "HILL CLIMBER". [sm=lol.gif]

Afterburner my 14m shows a few hundred hours on it hopefully this year will have a bunch of firebird time

Hi Keith,

I think Billy wants to know about landing characteristics, compared to say a KingCat and whether that speedbrake has much effect.

Thanks in advance,

I just like to watch the plane before I fly it. And since there isn't too many flying around here i figured the vid would be the next best thing.

Makes sence that there are not to many vids out there,......just too dang fast to shoot

The Firebird is not a short field plane, but as long as you have enough runway, it is not difficult to land. You need to carry some speed, but the plane flares nicely and has little tendency to bounce, unlike the Kingcat. I think the belly speed brake does help some. It handles crosswinds nicely. The landing gear and tires are strong points for the kit, are positioned well and matched nicely with the airframe.

The takeoffs are the smoothest of any plane I have flown.

It does eat up a lot of sky, but that is what it was designed to do.
