Exactly. I would think those who are selling it would/should provide an MSDS sheet, but when I asked what it was in person, I was not given a straight answer.

Stadis 450
do a google search, interesting stuff. Dont think you will find it in less than 55 gallon drums.

Does anyone else know of another product that would provide similar results?
I have not had a turbine shut down due to static, but have observed static electricity in some conditions while fueling. I have a bottle of the "anti static", but have not used it yet (or even opened the bottle) cause I wanted to know what it was. Just now getting around to asking.

He said it was like 15yrs old. Maube they don't sell the small ones anymore.
It doesn't take much either. Remember , Bob was telling everyone to just dip a screwdriver in it then dip that into your fuel jug......sounds like some wicked stuff.

Edit - Some interesting info on use and % needed in Jet A here: [link=http://books.google.com/books?id=SrgQkeuBGKcC&pg=PA412&lpg=PA412&dq=%22ASA-3%22+%2B+%22antistatic%22&source=web&ots=Gz163k4KuM&sig=ZZlgSbVZi24fFEIByQfhhYUK3L0&hl=en#PPA412,M1]Electrostatic Hazards - Hydrocarbon Processing[/link]

RE: What is this magical anti static liquid that
We already offer both the Anti-Static tubing and Stadis [link=http://www.dreamworksrc.com/catalog/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=static&osCsid=6edbb774a9e280f76b62c77117c97b12&x=0&y=0]HERE[/link]
Due to the type of material the anti-static tubing is made out of, it is not available in clear.

No slam on Uncle Bob - but it must be 'cut' with something....according to the ASA-3 tech data I read, the concentration of additive needed is on the order of .6 to 2 mg/ltr. ... works out to 0.00067 oz. for 5 gallons...a lot less than 2 capfuls...?
I know Bob W. said just a drop was plenty for a 5 gallon jug of kero/Jet-A. At any rate, it sure is a lot cheaper/easier to buy it (diluted or not) from BVM rather than a 5 gallon drum!

Sean,
Don't forget the A.S.S.
It is required for full scale fueling operations. It does not need a MSDS and is non toxic!

Is the static problem only an issue with the fuel flow associated with the larger turbines (P 120 size and larger) ? ..... I do not recall any posts regarding issues with the smaller turbines ? Thanks. Bob

RE: What is this magical anti static liquid that
I had a problem with flameouts on takeoff last year with my Airworld hawk and was convinced they were static issues. The reason why is that as soon as the model lifted off the turbine would quit, this was exactly the same as Thomas Gleissners hawk at WJM 05 in Hungary. The really interesting thing is that Thomas's hawk quit twice taking off tarmac and, then in both cases, taking it off grass it worked fine. Also talking to another very experienced flyer in the UK he said that other people were experiencing similar issues in the USA and were running running static discharge wires from the UC to the ground to prevent the issue.
I tried all sorts of solutions like using anti static fluid, anti static tubing, grounding the model when refuelling etc. None of these worked. I talked to a lot of people to try and canvass opinions and the common concensus was that it was something to do with static build up with the wheels or undercarriage and it must depend on the type of surface. In desperation I decided to electrically bond all the metal parts of the model together i.e the main UC, Nose leg, tail pipe and turbine. Since I have done this I have had 60 odd flights with no reoccurence of the problem. No idea why it fixed but I am confident it did.
Geoff.

No idea if it does any good, but I've heard of people using anti-static spray (like this stuff http://www.topoftheline.com/anspray.html ) on their tires.

Jeez ! You blokes will buy anything if it's got a high enough price tag !! This stuff is Highly flammable, highly toxic, Carcinagenic ( LIKE IT CAUSES CANCER ), will destroy your skin, & cause breathing difficulties, give you pneumonia, & you wanna put it in your jets ? ? Bloody hell ! I would not touch it with a ten foot pole. Talk sense ! ! Ray.

And all the other things that comprise your jet are any better? Fiberglass and resin and kerosene and propane and various other noxious and toxic chemicals!!! No matter what you use these planes will be possible flying fireballs.
