Turbine Oil Date
Hi.
I just received a case of Mobile Jet II oil and the date on the cans is Dec 2007. I called Mobile and they said it has a 10 year shelf life but could not verify the dates meaning. Is it the experation date or manufacture date? Thet gave me the # of the area that would know the answer but they were closed. So does anyone know???
Thanks,

RE: Turbine Oil Date
Hi Dom, as far as I know Mobil Jet II has a 30year shelf life. The date that is usually stamped on the top is the date of manufacture. So as I see it you should be ok till 2037.
I'm not to sure about US reguations, but in Australia a case of Aviation oil should come with documentation (a release note), that would confirm this.
Cheers,
Greg

RE: Turbine Oil Date
Dom,
The answer is obvious....the oil is beyond its expiration date and should be disposed of.
Just send it to me, and I will take care of the disposition for you.
I will galdly dispose of any expired turbine oil that anyone has in order to save you from any legal problems with the EPA. I would hate to have the "Turbine Oil Police" making your lives difficult.
Actually, dates pressed into the can tops are generally the date of manufacture.
Not all buyers of the oils use the same expiration time period....foreign users are not bound to our FAA or military standards for expiration date, and will set their own date standard based on internal methodology.

the answer your question is most items like turbine oil have whats called a life date on them its to keep control, so we dont use well out of date stock, i work for a large aerospace company here in the uk all the paints, sealers and stuff like that we use have a life date on them there might be nothing wrong with it but we just dispose of it hope this helps regards jonathan

RE: Turbine Oil Date
Usually the date stamped on the can is the date of manufacture and not expiry date.
