SM Hawk Fuel tanks

RE: SM Hawk Fuel tanks
Hi:
The Hawks that have being built here are using the scale cockpit, so installing a third tank, or raising the deck is not possible if you dont want to butcher the cockpit, so we have changed the big tank for one of the F-18 tanks and changed the position and hole of the small tanks. See pictures attached.
Regards
Eduardo

Could you expand on what the issue is with the tanks. I don't see any problems with the configuration as it is. Did you find you where not drawing the entire volume of fuel?

RE: SM Hawk Fuel tanks
Could someone that built their Hawk per the Skymaster plans chime in on this thread? This is a good point as the stock tanks are tall and no good way for the clunk to move freely at all times. Is anyone having air induced flame out issues from this layout?
Its pretty sad when you buy kevlar tanks from the mfg and they won't work in the plane. What do you say Skymaster? If I send you back the tanks will you send me a F18 tank as posted above?

RE: SM Hawk Fuel tanks
Im using the stock tanks in the suggested position. I have used BVM clunk line in both tanks which is very flexable and does reach the top of the large tank at least in the inverted position. I have only tested this by turning the model upside down and draining the tanks at this time. I am going to plumb the tanks in reverse so the large tank feeds the uat. This should work just fine as the large tank has full clunk movement.

I guess the question is why do it that way and run the risk of a flameout? I have a way to do it without much modification and it will work perfectly w/o the risk of the SM way. Here are some photos of the way I did it. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_73...tm.htm#7603853

Hi JClittle, the SM tanks is not a good idea, I'm agree.
I asked in many forum and they recomended to me use a extra Dubro 10 Oz. tank, I'll put it in my plane. If you have other good idea please show pics, is not too late to change my fuel system.
