Default Wren MW54 Mark 4?

This is from the Wren website.

MW54 MARK 4 . . . . . Tuesday 6th May 2008

New 54 Mk 4 kits available later this week! The Mk 4 is identical to the Mk 3 in appearance and in the way the kit is assembled. It produces more thrust and is particularly cool running. The throttle response - which was already good - is now amazingly fast.
The price remains the same.
More information coming very soon.
Anyone have any more details??

Is this going to basically be a SS in kit form?

Impatient minds need to know.

I have the first MK4 produced by wren. It have a 7 blade compresor (rather than 6 of the mk3), and real thrust measured in mine is 6,7 Kg. I have made 8 flights at the moment with it.

No, it's not a kit of the SuperSport - that wouldn't be possible. A number of changes have been made to the Mk 3 kit which give it a little more power and slightly cooler running, plus the build is a little easier (not that it was difficult before).

Just a little more - we advertised the Mk 3 at 14+ pounds, we're saying 14.5 for the Mk 4.

The SuperSport isn't available as a kit because it is too difficult to build. Although it is the same size as the 54, it has 4 pounds more thrust, and some of this is achieved by matching parts very carefully and building to very tight tolerances. Although one batch of parts should all be exactly the same, there are tiny differences and the guys select for best fit, sometimes re-machining to get everything exactly right. Obviously, it's not possible for a customer to have boxes of parts and re-machine some of them.

The same applies to the 44, it also has high thrust-to-weight and has to be built by the experts. However, the 54 is a less powerful engine with larger clearances and tolerances, and we can take the parts off the shelf and put them in a box for the customer, secure in the knowledge that he should be able to put the engine together without problems.
