Default Excellent Jets Munt service @ Dreamworks

I had an issue with my Merlin 160 a couple of weeks back and I sent the turbine to Todd. He checked it out, made the needed repairs (both bearings) and got it back to me quickly.

The Merlin is back in the YA F-18 and ready to go.

Hello Gary,

Just being nosey [:-]

But what issues did you have, why did the bearings need changing, and how many hours had the engine run ?

Thanks.

The Merlin has almost 25 hours on it. The issues I had were caused by me. On several occassions, I went out to the flying field and neglected to take my brain with me. [sm=bananahead.gif]

The short answer is that this Merlin has been run on Powermax only (no kero) for extended periods of time, which means no lube to the bearings.

Ah, "self abuse" I'm usually guilty of "I fiddled, I fiddled, I fiddled, and I broke it"

Glad Dreamworks sorted it quickly for you.
