Flyinfool1:

What David has asked and not answered:

1. Yes there are flying fields near Mexico City. . .closest is just over an hours drive
2. Yes, there are always positions available for qualified individuals
3. The Flea has been shelved at this time. We will announce on RCU when we "kick start" the Flea program again.

If I missed any questions on this thread, please bring them to my attention.

Thank you,

Application. . .of course ! 20lb thrust with 2lb 2oz weight and avg 7oz fuel per minute opens up unlimited applications. This exciting new turbine will change the performance envelope of jets of all major manufacturers which call for 18 -24lb thrust turbines. Think of the opportunites. My personal BVM BobCat will have a Rabbit. My Skymaster F-86 as well will have a Rabbit once we have delivered customers orders. BVM, FlyEagleJets, Skymaster, FeiBao, JetLegend, Avonds, Aviation Design and I could go on and on. Let your mind take you where you want to go as the doors have opened wide. Almost forgot, the ever popular Boomerang Elan is another perfect jet/turbine combination.

Application. . .if I missed your point, please redirect your question to me./

Thanks,
Eric Clapp

Hi Eric, I ordered my Rabbit through TBM. When are the first shipments expected and how many turbines are there on the first batch?

Thanks,

David

David:

Yes, TBM has placed a blanket purchase order with us for Rabbits. We are on schedule. I suggest you contact TBM's Bill Hatcher to follow up and verify your order is in process. We are shipping using the FIFO rule for orders placed.

I leave Monday morning heading to Winamac for their Jet meet, then on to Jets over Kentucky for their Jet meet. I am in touch daily with our customers and my office. I will have one Rabbit with me for "show and tell."

Thank you for your inquiry.

Alex:

Remember, we are always trying to be inovative. Our goal is to introduce the Rabbit with both internal and external glow plug. . .an industry first. Let me explain:

Our concern was/is with the internal glow plug we are presented with a dilemma. If the internal glow plug element should fail, what does the pilot do. We asked ourselves this question. Answer is it has to be removed and have factory service. My suggestion was to offer both ! We ship the Rabbit with the internal element and already set up for the external element with a machined polished insert in the glow plug hole. The internal glow is set up to operate on the Kero start software. If the internal plug fails, the pilot simply confirms, takes from his parts box, the glow plug wiring harness and glow plug. He removes the insert, installs the glow plug completes the wiring and switches to the glow plug program in the ECU. In less than 20 minutes, our customer with the failed element is back in the air.
Yes, I am excited about this. Our experience with Kero start element is less than acceptable life. We are using a similar element. Although tests are very good, we do not want to have unhappy customers who cannot fly.
Thanks for your question. . .

Best regards,
Eric Clapp

If the internal element fails does it become FOD ? or Internal OD ???
What is the expect life of the internal element... on gas start? on kero start?

Bob:

Good questions. . .

Internal element failure is that of failing to burn. The element is ceramic and we have tested several. The element is mounted in a fixed position grounded, shielded and presents no problem of becomming FOD.

Expected life is the "unknown" which is the very reason we are coming to market with a back up system. I have good friends who have Kero start and the life of the element varies from a short 5 hours to unknown as it is still operating. At a recent jet meet in Mexico, a fellow USA pilot had his Kero start fail within a very short period of time. We came to the rescue with the parts necessary to convert back to glow start which put him back in the air within the hour. So, I do not think any manufacturer can give you a firm opinion as to "life expectancy" in hours of any Kero style element.

Thanks again,
Eric Clapp

My friend's other brand kero start fail prior to 5 hour. His new unit still going. I don't expect the internal unit to fail too soon but if it does; Is cover by the LTW. The other brand is not. Any way, do we need to send engine for replace the unit at certain period of time? or Can we just continue flying with the back up set up until reach the first schedule service?

Alex:

Just keep on flying should the internal element fail. No requirement other than your personal choice. Yes, LTW does and will cover replacement when you do send it in.

Alex, how about being the coordinator of Rabbit purchases for your jet buds. Rally the guys and let me know.

Eric,
Great idea on the backup glowplug!
Now will the Rabbitt also run on this as backup fuel with the high oil prices?

Yes David I'm working with Eric that oportunity. Hopefully I will, Rigth Eric?

[Alex, how about being the coordinator of Rabbit purchases for your jet buds. Rally the guys and let me know.]

Eric, consider this done! As soon mine gets here. It will be on the stand for a demo at our field. I had worked few Rhinos in the Island so far. Still working another one. The hard part is that my client want a KeroStart. So If Felipe work something in that kerostart conversion for the current engines out there let me know ASAP. Call me as soon you get my conejita ready.

Best Regards,
Alex
