Kero and servo extensions
Setting up a new jet and robbing some servo extensions out of another I noticed some of the wires are stiff. I know that the extensions were at soaked with kero at one time. Will that make the wires stiff and are they safe to reuse? Old jet was working fine untill I ripped the landing gear out of it.

The fact that you asked the question shows that you are unsure about them yourself. I would not reuse those extensions. The stiffening of the insulation has made it brittle and it can crack - usually across more than one wire at the same place. If it does that, then a short is very possible with predictable results. I'd thank them for their long and reliable service and give them a rest in the circular file...

I have experienced that also - putting some extensions near the fueling area. Replaced them as they do rot; now I try to keep them removed as much as possible.
The Kero does ruin the insulation, but also the connectors inside them - corroded. If they don't look shiny gold, then I'd can them or move them to a non-turbine application before you get intermittent shorts, etc...

Kero is not the problem so much as the turbine oil. It destoys polymers of many types. Some plastics will crumble. The kero removes the plasticiser from PVC insulation, making it inflexible. Throw far away.
