[>:]Barry,

In response to your thread that got locked................

YUP! It's just a matter of economics when the thread gets moved.........It gets moved to provide more exposure to the ads on other forums. I don't have any problems reading about full-scale jet stories here. Especially when folks chime in who have experience either flying or working on the birds. It is usually interesting and educational.

I don't understand the total elimination of the cat-fight threads. Back in the day, the offending language would just get edited, now the entire thread vaporizes..And we loose any valuable information that was presented. I wonder if that happens on "The Other RC Forum".............I think that I'll bookmark that one and check it out.........HINT TO RCU ADMIN....................I remember when RC Online vaporized into cyberspace............

Tailwinds,

John

Is Nathan a goof in real life? Or is it just RCU he likes to be a bad guy? I have yet to see anything useful in anything he has ever done, and I've been on both sides of the fence long enough to have seen it.

if there is one thing i have learned in the last ten years, it is this. common sense is a rare thing. and if you have it, the sky is the limit. if you dont, someday you hit a ceiling. i just dont and never will understand why some full scale threads are left untouched and others get doomed in an afternoon. lastly, when asked, no answer is given. dont we, the users and reason for the site deserve just a tad more respect then the ole "movin on". i send newbies here often. several a week. and because of that i know i deseve a little more courtesy. my old worthless 2 cents, barry

The most consistent thing regarding RCU is its inconsistency.

An explanation of the discrepancy would seem to be a good idea, rather than just supplying a non-answer that simply stokes any discontent that is forming.

Sometimes there is going to be inconsistency because of the fact that the mod's each see things just a little differently ; sometimes there's another reason ; I recall when I was doing mod duty here that the 4 jet mod's knew that the members here like some full scale jet discussions and that as long as the RC content vastly outnumbered the full-scale jet stuff we tried our best to let that slide ... and just when some of the members started saying thank-you for us not being anal about the full-scale stuff we get a reminder from Marc that full-scale discussions were not allowed in the RC forums and that we needed to crack down on any such posts.

When we did crack down as requested from above, we then got complaints about us being inconsistent, and all sorts of wonderful consipracy theories posted about "full scale discussions are only allowed if the originator is a buddy of the mod", and other such nonsense. So, sometimes inconsistency may come about because the mod's are trying hard NOT to be anal (arguably they SHOULD !?) ... but even if that happens, I think an explanation of it can be very helpful in defusing resentment.

YMMV, which is fine,

Gordon

i love the site, i appreciate the mods. i just dont see the evil in full scale discussion that is jet related. i think there have been hundreds here. one that comes to mind is the usaf tanker deal. another , would be the crash landing of the 777 in england. very informative and jet related. i could see if the thread turned into full scale only, but it will not in a million years. the forum is 100 percent full of modeolrs and maybe 10 to 20 percent occupied by full scale piolts. i understand trying to drive traffic around. but sometimes i think there is no net gain. barry

The community had decided quite some time ago to allow full scale discussion within the Jet Forum and that was supported by Marc (no less), When did the rules change??? Did I miss the memo ??????

Ha! Wayne! That's hilarious! Well, vaporized in cyberspace.......In spirit that is...............................

The point being, if more than a few folks get frustrated and fed up and start frequenting other available sites, the house of cards with all it's FREE contributers could come tumbling down....No matter what the sales price was. It didn't take RCU long to explode onto the scene while another site dwindled not all that long ago.

All in all RCU and the merry band of mods does a great job of keeping these amiable and I also recommend it to any newcomers. It just seems as though the moderating has been kicked up a notch the past few months. Lets' blame it on global warming and the oil companies.

Tailwinds,

John

Hmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!
I think there must have been a mistake here. The last standing order by Marc as of the time I left moderation duties last month was to leave any full scale Jet related posts in the Jets forum. If any of you want to investigate this, you can do a search here in the jets forum for Marc’s post.

With that said, let me remind all that are concerned that the mods are doing their jobs to the best of their abilities. Before I resigned, I solicited for some volunteers to take over the moderation duties and only got one volunteer. I’m glad I’m no longer on the hot seat and all my gray hairs are not turning back to black and my butt that was completely chewed up is beginning to look normal again (lol and pun intended)

Best regards

Ben

Ben,

Thanks for the info. Nathan actually moved the first one and I followed suit on the second. I was unaware of Marc's amendment to the rules. In the future I will not move these type of threads unless instructed my management to do so.
