Guys we have used two of these engines for more than two months now.

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_76...tm.htm#7620423

Here are my findings:

Cons:
No auto cooldown feature,
Acceleration not faster than the 160SE/Titan
Not 100% reliable ( I have had two engine failures already, my engine has a fuel leak, so it is back to Jetcat factory for evaluation )
Starting plug not interchangeable by the user
Only slightly more thrust than the 160 SE

Pros:
Very smooth Kero start ( much cooler than the 160SE )
Amazing sound

At this point I don't believe that the extra money is worth paying for so little advantages.
The G-booster 160+ is a much better option at this stage.
I cannot compare with the Jet Central products since I have never tried them.

125K is on a SX. Titans and Titan SE are limited to 123K. If you have a P160 (non USA model) I don't know what it would be limited to.

Hope this helps,

Russ

furloughed ual

I check 2 Titan thrust yesterday... for my surprise all the 2 didn´t push 34lbs as JETCAT say.... we compare 2 titan, 1 P120, 1 JETCENTRAL EAGLE, 1 Merlin in the same test table with didital scale..... all in the same altitude.. we notice that all the turbines lost 1 lbs because we are 2500 feet high..

First and Second TITAN 29lbs
P120 - 27lbs
Eagle - 29lbs
Merlin - 36lbs

In my opinion JETCAT Titan doesn´t have the power that JETCAT sell... anyone has other numbers??

interesting #'s.......I really have no experience with using a quaility setup to check thrust....the reason for my crude comparison was to see which of our 2 turbines (Jet Cat/Artes) pushed harder.....the actual thrust numbers were not accurate....the difference in thrust was....

I've run a "crude" test myself a few years ago with P120, two titans, and two Merlins. My numbers were similar except the 120 was 24lbs thrust, the merlins were 36, and the titans were 1: 32lb, and 2: 34lb.

800 feet, central Texas 90 degree day or so.

It will be interesting if someaone could compare the new 160SX with the Titan...
JETCAT stop to sell the TITAN, maybe now with the 160SX they are "fixing" the things... selling a turbine with 36lbs that "has" 36lbs..

I really miss the unbelievable relaibility of my non-SE titans.

I've only had unexplained flame outs with my SE's. My old P-120 keeps on truckin' as well.

Not to say that the reliability of the SE's is NOT top notch, but I think that the extra demands placed on the fuel and electrical systems means that more attention needs to be placed on those areas when installing an SE in your model.

I would guess that the P160SX will be similar. I'm happy right now with my SE's, so I'm gonna wait.

I want a minimum 55# turbine for "real" scale jet flying....

Raf
