Recently I purchased a ram 500 from a gentleman here. It arrived just fine and was packaged really well but UPS still managed to put a nice dent in the corner of the box. Everything except the propane (the modded co2 container) was fine. My problem is that the fitting was broken off and I just dont want to do anything stupid trying to fix it. I figured someone might have one laying around or a idea on what to use as a replacement (something by another manufacturer ?). I tried to unscrew the fitting from the tank but it seems rather tight and I wanted to ask where I might be able to obtain one or a suitable replacement and a idea of the cost so I can file it with UPS. I'll still be giving her a bench run tomorrow with a friends tank and I'm looking forward to flying it very soon. I tossed the idea of using a larger size container but we did just talk to Carlos about some simple bugs that we worked out on my friends ram 500 and I do remember clearly that he asked if we where using the original C02 tank and nothing larger. So any ideas on a easy fix or where I can pick one up from or cost ?
I thought about just purchasing one of these [link=http://www.dreamworksrc.com/catalog/product_reviews.php?cPath=62_95&products_id=657&os Csid=0e8c09dd58b65245eaf5c8ecb960c2ae]On board gas tank[/link] and also attaching a manual shut off in line but wasn't sure if it would be to large or not.
Any input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks !

Did Carlos recommend not using anything larger? The Ram tank holds enough gas for one start. Not too long ago most were recommending going to a larger, Jetcat type tank for more consistent starts. The other major manufacturers (Jetcat, Jet Central & Wren) all use a larger can similar to the one in your link.
If you want to fix your Ram one contact your favorite Festo supplier. I'm sure that's a standard part, you just need to know the thread size. Also I'd bet Carlos could fix you up.

And I would have though I was smart enough to come up with the simple answer. I guess there really isn't much point to carrying the propane on board. One less thing to go wrong in line.
I did find the part I believe so im guessing I just need to try a bit harder to remover the old one.

GIXXY ,
I have two Ram 500's. I just leave a piece of brass tubing stuck in the tubing on the input side of the solenoid, and attach a propane bottle to it when I start. The propane bottle has a regulator on it, but some guys just modify the standard torch valve to accept tubing and plug it in to start. You can turn the valve down if it's to much. That's all you need, keep it simple. Works every time.
Thanks,
Dale

I also just use a festo check valve and plug the power max can in. I squeeze the trigger on the bottle with the bottle upside down, and start the engine. I then unhook. I feel safer than when I used to carry that litte igition source on board. Bob
