Default K&B 45 QUESTION!!

I have running my K&B 45 RIRE on an old Midwest Jester. The fuel tank is mounted in the nose. The only problem I have if I try to idle it back for landing I do not have enough exhaust pressure to keep the juice flowing. Is was thinking that a Perry VP-30 Regulating pump would give more pressure than the tuned pipe can. Would I be correct in thinking this? If so Where world I tap the the engine case to get the pressure??? This engine is Rear Intake.
