Taz Blaster Enforcer

Well I finally finished my Byro Blaster Enforcer. I call it my Taz Blaster, the reason should be obvious in the photos.
Besides the normal DF conversion I made a number of other modifications:
- Extended the nose 6 " and moved the nose gear forward.
- Moved the fins one bay outboard, reshaped them and added functional rudders.
- Control surface servos are side mounted near the TE.
- Put a pocket in the center of the wing wide enough for a 24 oz. tank to sit lower and on the cg.
- Lowered the back of the fuse 2" to allow pipe clearance and also widened it slightly so the tank would fit. If I had it to do over I would have also shortened it about an inch to provide more clearance to the engine and carb.
- Added a removeable cover for the rear fuse.
- Spring air retracts.
- Weston mini-pipe.
I still have a few minor things to do before the first flight. Thanks to Mike Weidner and Joe Lupton for the inspiration.

Great Job
You will love flying it. It's a joy to fly it. It has no bad tendancies that I have found yet. You can run it till it's dry and it will float right in for a perfect landing.
The only thing to watch out for is the pipe when you are burning the skies will drop down quite a bit and if their is not enough clearance will burn the area under the pipe. But whatever you do don't tie the short pipe down or else you will destroy it guess how I know.
Let us know how it flies.
Enjoy!

Your Enforcer looks great! The extended nose looks just like mine! I almost had to look twice! I like your color scheme also! I think I enve drew one up that looked similiar to yours. The colors will look great in the air.
I haven't seen one of the short pipes. Who makes it and how does it run? What holds it on? I couldn't tell from you photos. Also, what kind of pipe seal are you using? I am down to my last red one for the OS .91.
Have you flown it yet? If not, don't forget to go forward about an inch on the CG.
good luck on your flying. I love mine.

Thanks, Joe. As you can tell I was influenced by your Enforcer.
Like jetset99 said that's a Weston mini pipe. They work well, weigh less and in this case simplify the installation. I've had good luck with the one on my F-4. Sparkplug did have some trouble with one on his Enforcer. They are available through Top Gun Aircraft. http://www.tgajets.com/
They come with the pressure tap installed with non heat resistant epoxy (kind of dumb if you ask me). I reinstalled mine by putting a bead of Alumiweld on the pipe, then drilled and tapped it. Or you could use JB Weld. If you look closely at the engine picture I posted you can see the two springs that hold the pipe on.
For the pipe seal I use 2 Viton #115 O-rings. These are the same ones BVM sells. To get them to work on an OS91 you need to machine the OS exhaust header grove to .81" dia. by .21" wide. I do this on all my engines. They are cheaper and last longer than the red seals. A bag of 100 rings cost about $20 from an O-ring supplier, so I change them every time I have occasion to remove a pipe.
I haven't flown it yet. I need to reinforce the way I have the rear fuse cover attached, then break in the engine. I did balance it with the CG about 1" forward of the original location based on your recommendation.

Joeflyer,
By the way thanks for the tip on the pipe I am now working out a deal for a TGA full length pipe
I like the flying characteristics of the Enforcer so much that I am trying to get some tips on building a turbine one. I think it would be a good flyer. During winter I would fly the DF and in the summer the turbine.
Again Thanks.
Enjoy!

Well I finally got the opportunity (and nerve) to fly the Enforcer. What a great plane! It's rock solid steady, nice axial rolls, and really scoots.
Takes off and lands great, and is easy to fly.
All it needed was two clicks of down trim. Best first flight I ever had!

Try going to Roger Zatkoff in Farmington Hills They have all kinds of O-rings in stock... Last I knew $5.00 min cash purchase could be made at the pickup counter. I ended up with a lifetime supply of O-rings For my K&B needle valves.

Bob,
Thanks for the tip. I'll check him out next time I need some. I ordered mine from www.allorings.com and have enough of the hot seals to last me a while.
