Hey all, i see that A123's have caught on like wildfire. My question is, which is good for the JetCat ECU's v 6.0 and also the smart-fly EQ-10with JR 921 Receiver? I mean as far as cell count and MAH rating. Also, what packs is everyone using, SinCity, Duralite....etc?? Thanks in advance. Nick

Totally happy with these. 2X 2S1P for the Rx (no regulator or switches direct to AR9000) and 3S1P on the JetCat ECU. 31 flights and counting.

Hi Nick, I am slowly switching everything (even my air pump
) over to 123s. I dont have that much time on them yet but am very happy with them so far. They are listed as 2300Ma but I am getting about 2000 out of them. For me they scratch my itch for the following reasons:
1-retain 95% of charge for a month (unlike NiMh or Nicd) This works well for me as I dont get to fly very often. With Nimh if you let them set you get false peaks if you fast charge them.
2-true 1000 cycle life times. Lipos state 2-300 but I have never even come close to that before capacity drops
3-No need for a regulator- nuff said
4-Dont blow up if over charged. You can kill them by ovrecharging but they wont blow. (ask me how I know)
5-Tuff to kill them by overdischarging
6-You can charge them at 10 honest to god amps. You can top off after a flight in the time it takes to fuel
yes or nos-
1-They are light but bulky so not so great for tight quarters (never usually an issue)
2-Need a special charger.
3-They are getting REAL DAMM expensive
You will love them, Scotty

I am switching a few planes to 2.4 and wondeirng about how the JR 1221 and the Jet ECU handle these cells and theier unregulated voltage?
I am either going to go with 2 -A123 into the 1221 or 2 -LiMN into a turbo regulator (prefer to avoid the reg if possible) into the 1221
I like the idea of being able to top off every 1-2 flights too(even thouh gthere should be plenty of reserve..)
Thanks,
Dave

It sounds like the receivers can all handle the high, unregulated voltage, but what about the servos? I know that running five cell NiCds and NiMhs also have a high voltage, but that is fresh off a charge. The depress rapidly. I am concerned about higher servo wear at prolonged voltages of around 6.6 volts. Any hard data? Thanks.

Edit: Oops, I forgot they go through my MPX Rx

Scott, i am running a smartfly eq-10 in my bandit, so regulation should be fine to the servos. I have heard these things are great, i am looking forward to the change. I think i am just going to order the cellpro 10s, because it will charge up to 2 5s packs togethor. Nick

I am using the Duralites Li-mang. without any problem. Also the help with the balancing of the plane.
They can be charged with the Duralite charger.
Last time after 4 flights the volt. marked 7.2.

The CellPro 10S is a fantastic charger and extremely safe. You will never want to be without one.
I have two!
