"The two A-10 where flying together.. Another Jet had a right gear that didn't come down so, the pilot tried to slow the jet up for a soft landing and lost control.... The jet hit the ground hard and slide through the safety fence taking the A-10 pilot out at the knees....

The A-10 pilot didn’t see it coming and lost his transmitter after getting hit…. The pilot dove over the plane that hit him to get the transmitter and couldn't pull it out in time!!! Straight in full power.... It was the wildest thing I've ever seen in RC..."

That was the link. That is one crazy way to lose a plane. I'd say the landing jet owes a Big apology

No that just sucks!
Darn right- I had a spotter that saved my butt in the exact same situation. My buddies nose gear linkage broke on takeoff and the plane was heading right for me-Spotter grabbed my shoulders and PULLED me two feet out of the way-just missed me. Scotty

Its just amazing to me that the spotters did not see this coming or maybe it just happened so fast there was no time . Its also very apparent from some of the events that I have been at this year that people use poor judgement when it comes to emergency procedures. You have a better chance of doing less damage by belly landing than trying to come in on only one main and the nose. The plane with the problem should have touched down past the pilots stations and on the far side of the runway. I have been at several events this year where planes where out of control or had some type of emergency while I am flying and its very distracting to worry about getting hit. Lucky my spotters where sharp but there was one time when I lost sight of my plane when some one crashed into the fence right in front of me. That got my attention[X(]. the other thing that gets me is how many guys with waivers can go out there and fly around fine but when it comes to taking off or landing they seem to be just along for the ride and the plane is flying them so to speak. Maybe these issues need to be talked about more during the pilots meeting so if some does have a problem they at least have it fresh in their heads where the going to put the plane down and not take 5 years off our lives. Sorry to see Bobs A-10 go in like that, glad that he and his spotter are ok.Its been a rough couple of weeks for him after losing his sky gate Viper in a very unfortunate mid air with a kingcat at Hamburg. The kingcat survived and managed to come home without its nose and a big gash in the wing mainly because the pilot was calm and had a plan on what he was going to do. So maybe the next time we all take off we should have a plan in our heads on what we are going to do if something does go bad and communicate that to our spotters.

Don, I didn't realize THAT was Bob L's A-10.

What a shame, even with the Viper.... Sue and I liked that one.

Sorry to hear about this.

The way I understood it the other plane was a hawk of some kind.

Just talked to Bob. he is OK but mentally beaten up.

By the looks of the pic of that Hawk. I would say the pilot was less experienced and was at fault. Yes it was an accident but there is no reason a HAWK should be cart wheeling down the runway. They come in slow enough and on a 100' wide runway , knowing you have gear trouble, you should push it out to the other side of the runway.

Also, I agree, this is a spotters job to see this coming. Spotters should be watching everything else.

This sucks.

I came to Florida to go to the Tampa Bay Bucc Football game this Sunday, and decided to spend the Saturday here at the monster event, some real nice planes and the weather was perfect. Joe C!!
