Default Possible Afterburner use for Jets?

Not sure how he did it but the results look really nice. I wonder if it could be adapted to a jet?

Ron, maybe a new project for you in a plane buddy, forget those lights

Pretty cool...good flame and sound....close up shots of engine show a much longer engine nozzle with what looks like a snd pipe besides egt probe...did he modify engine with longer nozzle and is simply injecting fuel post turbine????inquiring minds need to know!!!k

I think that the AMA prohibits afterburners. First look at the rules.
Although is a really nice thing.

There's a thread on the other site about this.

Correct, the AMA does not allow AB per 510-a rule 13.

The Dragster looks more like it is a flame thrower for effect rather than a true AB. At full AB there should be no way those wheels should stop it from moving.

Here is another one where you can see that the AB is actually producing a lot more thrust.
You can see the whole table move forward when he hits the AB.

But the whole engine is glowing red, not to sure how long it will last doing that.
I would love to see his ecu and the max temp reading.

Wow somebody actually got a jetjoe to run...Looked like fuel consumption was very high as you could see fuel level decrease as ab was turned on...

Did you notice the fuel pump for the AB?
He emptied the fuel tank about as fast as I could have filled it.
But it still looked cool.

Yeah, it would definately be cool just for effect. No need for an actual thrust increase. The problem to would be how you would shield the rear fuse from the heat of the AB chamber? Quite hot.

so the startup would go like this...transmitter on..reciever on...fuel shut off on...trim to high idle...look for the led chase...throttle to full....engine start.....switch on aux pump for AB.....DANG....now where the heck is my fire extinguisher!!!!!

Damn!

To me, that rather looks like a fuel-to-noise-converter than a working afterburner. there is a team in germany that is busy on developing a working afterburner. They did the first flights with it 8 years ago. In the meantime they were able to get more thrust from the turbine and a better "kick" from the ab. Their latest turbine is based on the AMT Olympus turbine-wheel, produces some 200N thrust w/o afterburner and almost 300N on full afterburner. They have produced scale turkey-feather and a nice 1/3rd scale Mirage 2000

That afterburner is not effective. It's robbing the engine thrusts & rpm instead of increasing power. Second a real ab works better at full power.
