Default Difference between K1 Kerosene & Stuffed ECU

$Hi all,

Just wondering, I got some Kero for my Ram 750 from local hardware store but it doesnt say K1 on it anywhere. It is for burners and lamps etc. Is there any difference?

There are two grades of kerosene, K-1 and K-2.
The differ only in sulpher content, not in heat output.
K-1 can contain no more than .04% sulphur, while K-2 may contain a maximum of .30% sulphur. Sulphur content is important when being burned in lamps or heaters, as the sulphur is a pretty nasty pollutant.
K-1 is intended for use in space heaters and lamps, while K-2 is intended to be burned in heaters that have a external flue to remove the exhaust from a room.

Default RE: Difference between K1 Kerosene

thanks for that. Now it looks like my ECU is stuffed. was working the other week. No power going to the receiver or the start box. Then being the idiot I am accidently hooked battery up wrong way and heard a small pop so am guessing I have blown one of the chips now. Is there an ecu off another turbine you can use on the Ram 750. I have a Jet joe auto start to replace the air start. Any ideas?

Bob Price might be able to fix your ECU....He is the one who designed it....And while he is at it he may be able to update it to the latest software version...

Ruizmilton More info would be great. Would that be auto start then? otherwise might have to send it off I guess.

just looked on the ausjets website. Semi auto might be the go. But Im not sure if I could use this as it doesnt have a sensor on the shaft to obtain RPM. It just has the tube that goes to the ecu for pressure reading?

Post a pic of your RAM 750(front frm a side to be able to see your spinner), I want to check if it might have a magnet on the spinner, some did even though they were case pressure versions... You can use the JJ ECU in Manual start mode if your RAM is an airstart version, I have the parameters you need...

Electrodynam makes your ecu not bob price. To convert to rpm its easy first buy the starter assembly and ecu with matching rpm sensor. Here is some setup pics

Kennazzo, the jet joe starter seems to be good. Havent tried it in a start yet as the ecu has gone.

Here are those pics. What you think?

Matty:

Sorry, no magnet on that spinner... yet you can still make it work! here's what you do:
Get a rare earth magnet piece, they are round, about 3/16" diameter 1/16 thick, same are the ones used for governors on RC helis or used in some hatch and canopy hold downs in electric planes. See that hole in the spinner? You will place the magnet in that hole so that it's diameter or flat side is parallel to the longitudinal axis of the turbine( just follow the contour of the round hole with the round side of the magnet) place it so that it's as close to the center of the hole and shaft as possible, use a drop of CA so that it stays in place, then put some JB weld in the orifice from each side, trying to use the same amount as possible from each side, let dry and you are done! I did one like this and actually filled the hole with JB weld flush to the outside of the spinner. In the event the spinner nut has to be removed, just drill throug the JB weld.

For the RPM sensor, just substitute two of the compresor cover screws for the ones included with the sensor, they should have stand off spacers, use your serial number location as the place of reference of where to locate it. The size and thread of the screws is the same, they are just longer. Remember to plug the compressor pressure port...

That should do it! If you'll go autostart, the small JJ starter will fit. Or you can do manual starts with compressed air

thanks for that. doesnt sound too hard. What is the best way to cut a magnet. am guessing it wont fit as is.

I already have the Small JJ starter attached.

That type of ecu is now out dated so give them a call or change your ecu.

Matty:

The magnet pieces are of the required size, no need to cut...
