Hi Guys,
Here's my latest toy . I call it the FFF . Fu##ing Fast Foamy ! It lives up to it's name ! I know it's been done before but not in my part of the world
The airframe is a Multiplex TwinJet meant for twin electric motors . Add one Lambert T32 Kolibri and you have maximum jet fun per pound ! The airframe weighs 2lb 15 oz wet and the engine is putting out close to 4 lbs at 242000 RPM . I have 400ml on board and that's good for about 6 minutes .
The engine is manually started with an air blower but a full autostart version is available . I don't see the need because it starts quite easily and runs really well .
During a rare break in the weather we got in a couple of test flights yesterday . Definitely a keeper !

I'm just busy with completing my Colt V-glider with Kolibri again....
I like your FOD-screen, but also make an engine cowling from a bottle neck of a 500 ml water bottle... The diameter of the bottle is a bit larger, but don't worry, cut it through and use a little overlap...
It doesn't cost you anything, it doesn't add weight, but really looks better and moves the TwinJet even faster...

I used my little CNC mill to cut a ring and glued the strainer onto it . I don't think I'll do the cowl . If you look at my Twinjet , you'll see that I have my motor mounted lower and my elevons are made from balsa to be stiffer . I bet mine is even faster than your's now !![sm=punching.gif]Marc

I think I saw Alan C with Boomerang Jets fly one of those. I like your transmitter hand warmer deal where did you get that thing?

Hi Marc,
Here's one more in my living room right now to make you drool. Just moulding a wheel caddie for it to avoid all these "overwhelmingly-enthousiastic-clubmates-who-wish-to-handlaunch-this-heavy-glider-after-too-many-beers-in-our-cantina" !
Nicolas.

Well to start with .... we already know that the white ones are faster than the blue ones . That and less drag due to the lower engine , it's no contest ![sm=devious.gif]

Two first attempts ended in the long summer grass and my turbine had ingested a lot of it. Shouldn't be difficult, as there are many vids on YouTube showing easy handlaunches ?... [&:]Now I take it from the lazy side and use a catapult : http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=qMNzONt1h9E

How much money goes into one of these Kolibri foam jets?

Prices of the non-foam parts are here : http://www.lambert-modellturbinen.de/html/english.html
But still, it is the Most Fun per Pound, either it be for the "Pound" the 'weight' or the 'money' !
