Hi guys!
I have changed the turbine in my F-16 from a GBooster 160 to a Jetcat P180, and needed a new
and bigger pipe, which also meant that I needed a new afterburner ring from Flugmodellbau in
Germany. Hajo, the owner of the company, came up with this triple LED ring which gives off an
incredible amount of light. However, I had to place the ring a bit further in on the pipe so it is not
too visible when not lit, and still I wanted to see the effect from an angle. I clad the back part of
the cone with reflective tape on the inside, and the result is that you can see the light (reflection)
at a very steep angle, not always having to show the tail to the spectators - I can't wait to fly her
again!!

My Feedback: (5)
I had a similar problem with my Gripen with only a small gap between the exhaust pipe and the fiberglass nozzle. I also lined the inside of the nozzle with reflective tape. It looks great inside in low/medium light conditions from the side, but in the bright mid-day sun, you really can only see it well from directly behind. As such, I'm making a new fibreglass nozzle that has a bigger opening.
Your F-16 has a much bigger gap (not to mention the extra LED's), so you'll probably be pleased with the results.
Regards,
Jim

The LED driver is the same as for the smaller ring, and so far I'm running
it on 7.4V Lipo packs - but I know that there has been talk about using a
larger pack, maybe 11.1V to get it even brighter.
If you haven't seen the old ring in daylight, watch this video - it's quite
amazing, and this was the old, single ring!

The 79 mm inner diameter is supposed to be for bifurcated pipes, but the best thing is to ask Anton for the size of the tailpipe!

Hi Ice Pilot,
Just seen your post re the triple after burner ring.
I have just purchased the same from Airfighter, who are now marketing these instead of Flugmodellbau.
Am I right in thinking that you can power it from a 7.4v Lipo or even 11v+??
At present I have tested it with a 4.8v 1200ma nicad pack, and its dul, dull, dull !!
Cheers,
Steve
