Default Another Bobcat.....

Another Bobcat has left the painting booth!

This is my latest project. Still needs some detail in the cockpit, and a sand and polish job.

Has P-80+ right now.

This is the first time I used House of Kolor paint. It is awesome! The colors are Tangellow pearl (orange) and Stratto Blue. The white is a custom mix to match Monokote. The silver is some ford color (i think) I had from some car project, I added some flakes too. The silver really sparkles in the sun. The clear is ppg 2021 thinned 300% Really laid down nice and is quite light.

After I get back from a visit to California to fly my schools weight lifter plane, the radio installation will be finished and test flights soon after.

BTW This is my first turbine plane. Thanks Mr. Redmen and Mr. Redelmen for answering my dumb questions throughout construction. Ill stop bugging you guys soon! He He....

Default Winnimac

Thanks Roman.

I will be at Winnimac with the Sabre, the Bobcat, and the old trusty Agg 3 and Mav pro. I need to talk to Tim about comming down the sat before to do some test flights. Hopefully burning lots of fuel, glow and kero for those weekends. I have no field around here worthy of either plane
I am really looking forward to flying my sabre. With all the good reviews other people give it, mine should be excellent. It weighs around 14 lbs I think. Should keep up with those torch powered ones without a problem. Mine only has a viofan Probably the only DF sabre out there.....besides Tom D's

See you then!

Dustin

Default It flies!!!!

Just wanted to report that the weekend has been very very good! The new Bobcat and the sabre both flew with excellent results. The Bobcat was checked out by Tim Redelmen. Tim not only checked every system on the plane, he also was lucky enough to test fly the beast. After I pulled the transmitter away from him, he talked me through the proper way to land the cat. I was soo comfortable after 2 flights I was stupid enough to go home and fly it off of a narrow taxi way, with a nice cross wind.
Here are some pics of it today back on our home turff.

Thanks Tim for all the help this weekend, definately would not have been this successfull without your help.

Oh yeah tim, I changed my flight pattern today. I did a tail slide.....with rolls, and also a dirty roll on take off....more to come.

Great looking Bob Cat. Was that a paint mask of the Bob Cat? I like that.

Dustin

Congratulations!!!. I witnessed the test flight on Saturday at Winamac. FWIW, Tim is one of BV's best field rep. He spent a lot of time with Dustin on Saturday and consequently, Dustin went home with his entire airplane in one piece. The Bocat and the Sabre flew great and I wish you many more successful flights.

Regards

Ben

BTW Dustin, do you have the picture of Tim and the U_control airplane? (lol)

If anyone wants to hear the details, just send $5.00 to me . (LMAO)

Default Paint masks

I got all three paint masks from Pro-mark. I beleive they were less than 30 bucks. The cat is very detailed! I just called jerry and told him what I wanted and he did the rest. A week later I painted. He can do that work for any plane.

See you at Winnimac Tom. Not much to say about HOK. It's cheeper than PPG and it sprays awesome. The colors aint bad either. Lots of Bling Bling in there, but not too much cha ching.

Default HOK

Well I guess the only thing would be that you should spray it over white. You probably already knew that. It will cover over k-36, but takes a few more coats to get the same result. I use either white base coat or a white sealer from ppg to get my white base before color. There are some colors of theirs that are supposed to be sprayed over black and other various colors, but I believe all of the Shimrin colors should be sprayed over white for best results with minimal paint.

Then for the clear (ppg 2021) I reduce it with 3 times the reducer they call for. I then spray 1 mist coat. Then 2 wet coats, but not enough to run....let them flash off between (15-30) min is about good. I usually have to mix more in between coats. I never want to run out of paint while I am painting a part!

Ask away if you have any more questions.....next week I could take some pics of the process. I still have to spray the servo covers on the Bobcat.

Dustin
