Default Turbofan engine

I was wondering if a turbofan engine for scale air craft is a possibility. I see a lot of 1/6 and 1/5 scale builds out there and at that level of detail weight becomes an issue and the strive for as real as the full size aircraft is the name of the game. I continue to research but all the micro turbine engines seem to be the same. Nothing ground breaking. Is it an engineering or legal problem?

On a secondary note I am looking for an airframe diagram/drawing/cad or whatever is availible for a SU-27/SU-35 for my big project.

Thanks in advance
Bill S

There are a few turbofans out there. Getting a fan shaft inside the main shaft seems to be the main(and difficult) hurdle.

One being at gtba.co.uk

and the other at http://cpl.usc.edu/eschuste/

Thank you, I will have to apply to membership to that site. Just out of curiosity are thoes working high bypass model engines or are the fans there for scale apperance and effect?

There is a quite extensive thread here with pics and thrust #'s if you search. If I remember correctly, the turbofan they were working on would boost a 20lb turbines output to about 35lbs. Not sure about high bypass or not, but they should be scale for A-10's and commercial fan-type jets.

Ahh, here it is... http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_35.../tm.htm#353651

It's not necessary to drive a fan with a concentric shaft. Some full size fan engines dirve a separate turbine wheel with fan blades attached to the outer perimeter of the wheel. One specifically is the GE CF700.

I'm in the process of doing a large set of plans for the SU 27 in Cad.
Currently side-tracked with a VERY LARGE Avro Arrow mould right now.

Probably have the big SU27 plans available spring/summer 2009.

Thanks again for your responses.

I found a great bunch of pictures of the SU-35 huge in size, amazing details.

Not CADs of the air frame but the detail will answer questions for any Sukhoi enthusiast.

I went to the gtba.co.uk site and joined. It's worth the cost of membership if you have a serious interest in building your own turbine engine and broadening your interest in turbines in general. There are some seriously knowledgeable folks there.

how about a dummy balanced fan that will just spin!?!
i dont think this will be "airbrake" for the model since it will spin..
