Default P70 Tailcone

Hi All

I've just run my P70 up for the first time and noticed something that i've not seen on my p80 or 120 before. The tailcone was glowing red on start up, well by the time it gave the tx control of the throttle. As it's not something i've noticed before i just wanted to check if this is normal or not? I shut her down after the start up procedure had finished and the the temp was around 280 C so not even hot yet

cheers

Duncan

I have not noticed it on my friend's P-70.

But with all the sunshine down here it would be hard to spot!

Duncan,

If I read this right you have just run it up in the dark? If so then this is normal. I have only run up a turbine once, a P120, at night and I was amazed to see the colour of the tail cone. Obviously during the day you don't notice it!

I didn't let it get to full temp mate so don't know what the full running temp will be. It's probably fine bit wanted to check with everyone on here before I ran it fully

Cheers Geoff it was fairly dark and I hadn't thought of that. Guess still being a newbie I'm a bit nervous if it's doing something I'm not 100% sure about.

Hello Dunc,

No problem my new P-70 does the same!
Are you using kerostart?
If you have big flames on startup you have to adjust pump voltage!
The tailcone get orange during accelaration but gets it's normal color as soon as stabilized!
