Default Prop-Jet

I have had several prop-jets and the ones that I liked the most were the Great Planes Patriot and the F-20 kit that Cermark used to sell. I believed both have been discontinued. I have seen flight s of the F16 from Cermark and it just doesn't seem to fly jet-like. It is too big for my taste and a little on the heavy side...JUST MY OPINION. Some other people might love it.

I really enjoyed the Patriot, I think it is a great prop-jet that someone should consider kitting again. It was fast, agile and had F-5 looks. The F-20 was not as fast but was very docile and predictable. It was also a lot of fun.

Ive got a direct connection F20 and love it, with spring air retracts and a YS45 it moves pretty good!

cermark also has one.

I have a patriot too but have not flown it yet.

I have a Patriot with ST.51 and tuned pipe, fast, and flies like it's on rails. If you can find one, it would be a great jet trainer.

My Patriot minus the cowling... You know it is bad luck to make the first flight with all the bells and whistles on the plane.. :stupid:

I am currently building a patriot kit...

I am taking pics of it as I go along and it a pretty fast building kit... It is the third day so far and I am already finished with one of the wing panels and the tail feathers..... Ill tell you its allot of sanding...

I got a question for you guys.....

If you build the plane by only following the manuel and don't add any carbon fibers and so on it can handle the stress, right? and If yes about what speeds do you think it could take?

The one I built was according to the plans other than I used Spring Airs and had a servo for each aileron (flaperons). I had a Webra Speed 40 in it that pulled it around well over 100mph. I don't think at that speed and weight it ever came close to ripping it apart. The wing is pretty stout if I remember correctly so I'm sure it will hold up. As long as you fibre glass the center section you shouldn't have any problems.

Have fun with it, I'm sure you will enjoy it. It flies like its on a rail and great for doing the big 'jet like' maneuvers. Damn I miss that thing... (one flight too many on the receiver batteries pounded it hard )

I flew them in my Patriot for a about a year and a half. I don't think I ever touched them once. Plumb it right the first time and you should be ok for a very long time. Of course this depends on how you land and such, but they are durable and reliable.

A great prop-jet F-16 is the Combat Models F-16. It is the same size as the Yellow F-16. It uses a .45 pusher. It flys just like the Yellow F-16. I have both and they are similiar.

Bruno is right on about the Cermark F-16. I had the OS 91FX in the nose, and can honestly say,I've had trainers that flew faster.
Part of the problem is the fake intake. You may as well drag a parachute behind it.

It's been a LONG time since I had the Patriot, so I can't comment on that one too much. It flew fine with a OS .46 FX, but it wasn't a speedster. Harder to come by with each passing day.

I've also flown the Cermark .40 F-20 with a OS .61FX in the nose, (flew great after I repaired it, due to crash caused by a factory glue joint)
This one has been discontinued.

Currently flying the Cermark .60 F-20 with a Jett .90 up front. This is an awesome combo!! However, this ARF also has some items in the instruction book that MUST not be adhered too.
I believe this has also been discontinued, however, they may have some left.

My next prop jet will be the DC F-20, as I have a NIB Jett .50 just sitting in the drawer waiting for it.
I've heard nothing but good things about this one!!

Direct Connection makes an F-18 prop driven this airplane is rock solid stable and slows down for landing. High speed passes with the super tiger 90 is awesome. This plane cruises around 90 mph with a top speed around 120 mph.

90 mph to 120 mph? That's not flying, that's "low riding"!

James,

The F-16 flies great, and comes in nice and slow, for a .60 prop jet.

You choice in motors was a good one, I've had the OS .91 & the ST .90 and there is NO DOUBT the ST will smoke the OS!!

Like I said though, with the fake intake, this really has a tendency to act like a parachute under the belly of the aircraft. It IS a nice looking plane, and you'll enjoy the low, high speed fly-bys.

Did you get the "Thunderbird" F-16?

It's been a while since I built this, so if you have any questions, simply post here or shoot me an e-mail and I'll try to give ya a hand!

Default cool plane!

All the planes sound like great choices...I really like my Direct Connection F20 ...It was AR toCover and fly's really nice! I have a Rossi .60 and Spring Air's on it. Went a bit wild with the monocote but like it! Also had a GP's F4..they fly good with a .60!
PS you can check my homepage for some other cool pic's of the F20
