Hello, I know this may have been talk before, but I did not found any thread about this...
I'm about to program my failsafe and I would like to know what it is the rule or good setup for it ?
I do have a 2.4 10c (Futaba), I think it will be good to stop the engine in the failsafe setup, but what else should be done ?
Thanks !

Not sure if it is the same with futaba as JR, but for JR you bind with Throttle ATV at 100. Then lower throttle atv down to +50 and -50 and then learn ECU. With GSU in hand and connected, turn off TX and make sure you get the failsafe sign on the GSU. This will make sure that your engine turns off in a failsafe condition. If you want to test it, have someone hold the airplane while running, and turn off the TX and the turbine should shutdown.
If you ever go to rebind the radio for whatever reason, make sure move the throttle ATV back to 100% before you rebind and then remember to move them back down to 50% after the rebind.

Is setting the engine to shutdown is the only one thing to do ?
(I know how to setup the radio and the failsafe, I dont know what to setup)

Robin,
It all personal preference. Different people have different ideas as what should be programmed. Some drop the gear, some apply a small amount of up elevator, some set it to 'hold', and another to full snap roll (Lee). So your question will get many different answers depending who you ask.
My failsafe is engine off and just a small amount of up elevator.

No not at all, You could set the gear down, flaps deployed, or even if you want a lil left/right aileron for it to spiral down. Endless possibilities. With that being said also many different types of fail safe failure. Sometimes a failsafe may only happen for 2-3 seconds.. Well if you were cruising along at 160-170 mph you sure wouldn't want your gear dropping down on you. I tend to think that the majority of the jet pilots just set the engine failsafe. Depending on the failure sometime you can get control back.
It has happened to me. Before I converted to spektrum I was flying an older AVONDS F-15 on 72mhz. It was converted from ducted fan and alot of carbon fibre was added to the fuselage to make it a lil more rigid. I had put a few flights on it with no problems at all. I went to a Jet Event and was flying when all of the sudden I didn't have control of it. It was still running.... flying towards a freeway. I was like OMG... about that time I heard the engine shutdown. (FAILSAFE). I figured she was going down for the count. I continually kept moving the ailerons hoping to get control back and as quick as I lost control, I regained control, I dropped the gear turned downwind and made about a 50-60mph landing. Lucky I was, but just goes to show there are many different type of failsafe failures and kinda hard to find 1 set condition you would want in every type of failure.

Thanks, I appreciate the information, I think I will first set the engine shutdown and after having done some fly, I will figure what will be the best...
Madden flight planned for the beginning of may... (F16-Cermark)...
Thanks again...
