The mating of the reinforcement with the other layers of glass is "by the book", tapered and a very smooth transition in thickness. It also has sandwich material all over the bottom of fuselage and the wings, both to reduce weight, increase stiffness and survivability in case of a rougher landing. It looks like it was made with a vacuum mold and baked on an autoclave like the full size airplane (Cirrus, F18, Airbus) are made. The sandwich material is of top quality, looks like coremat in the fuselage and divinycell in the wings. This is the same kind of material that jet fighters, high performance boats, very high tech skiing gear is made off.
The last time I saw this kind of finish in anything fiberglass was when visiting the Eurocopter plant and looking at how they finish the different panels on the A-star/Squirrel/Ecureil helicopter. Those guys did take several lessons from the high end of the composite industry. A very distant far cry from standard fibreglassing as you see on other models.
I have a CARFEurosport, and while I must say it's a beautiful airplane and has excellent cost/benefit, comparing it to the Ultrabandit in terms of construction quality is like comparing a Ford Model T 1929 with a Ferrari 2009 MY.
The Eurosport is all hand layup inside a mold. All the painting is done with either airbrushing or stencils to the mold and then the fiber glass layers are hand laid over it. You can see where the mating lines between the fuselage halves goes, and you can see that the inside of the fuselage is rough where the reinforcements were put. All tape reinforcements can be clearly seen and there is a lot of hysol used afterwards to secure the bulkheads to the fuselage to give it stiffness. There's no sandwich reinforcement of any kind, except for Balsa and plywood in places like wing ribs and bulkheads. Yet, my Eurosport side panels are flexible and there are lengthwise cracks just under the cockpit seat. Clearly a result of not enough reinforcement. Low tech in two words.
The Ultrabandit, without any bulkheads installed, has fuselage sides as stiff as a Cirrus SR series full size aircraft. That's a result of the forementioned divinycell/coremat sandwich material, which adds strength without adding weight.
In conclusion, while I cannot afford nor justify the $11K "go-fly" price of the Ultrabandit, I can very clearly see why it costs 5x what the CARFEurosport does. I will continue flying happylly the Eurosport, but I can't help but admire the Ultrabandit.
My 2 cents...
Nice kit...(of course this is BVM). I hope you will post some pictures of the inside of the fuse, it should look beautiful... Thanks

UB Guys,
interesting to know!
Where have you put the CG on your Ultra bandit and what is your control surface travels?
Lasse P
But there is nothing that sounds like a AMT Olympus
I am so happy !!! I have two Olympus!
When you attach your wing to the fuselage the airlines are connected.
I think this solution was the best I could do, for not having to use the ordinary disconnects.
