Ian

Never knew that you collapse the foam when vacuum bagging. But its good the way you pass out the info so we get the chance to learn

Indeed, but on the brighter side it gave me a chance to refine the tip airfoil and resubmit it to Bob so that will be a lot closer to the full scale one after some further research.
so you found what the mod was?

I will never know the exact mod Thomas unless I am able to talk to the guy who actually did the drawings, or look at the actual Grumman plots, which were offered to me but the gent who offered never followed through. Either way I got a good shot at an angle I needed and was able to tweak the foundation airfoil through a program to come pretty darn close. I am pleased with how it looks but I just hope it flies well.

NACA 64A005.9 mod

This is the mod airfoil listed for the Intruder tip airfoil......

Thats it Nick, however the tricky part is the "Mod". I have the airfoil of the NACA 64A005.9. Below is a sample but next to it is the modified one which is pretty close to the true Grumman airfoil, but that info I will most likely never have. Even worse is the Stab airfoil, there is no info out there for that!![:'(]

Ian- it seems that all the mod does is add camber to the top of the airfoil.....you should be able to adjust those parameters manually.....good luck what ever way you figure it out!!

Well it doesn't really change the camber, what it changes is the thickness of the lower and upper sections of the airfoil. The top one is a basic NACA 64A005.9 airfoil and the one below is the airfoil I adjusted to match the cross section of several photos I have. This is fairly close but not EXACT. Its pretty much the same way I did the root airfoil except I had much better pics of the root. Now it is on to the stabs to try and find a suitable airfoil and then mod it.

yea possibly.. it should be here tomorrow.. I'm very impressed with the guys at thayercraft.. but their price on 18oz woven roving cloth for the mold making is a bit higher than one other place... now just gotta get all the plugs finished and sanded and i'll be ready to glass them.

Got my new wing cores in the mail today so I am hoping to have one made by the end of the weekend. I was thinking about trying to make a video for the vacuum process if people are interested, let me know.
