Default Torque tubes on ailerons/flaps?

Anyone using torque tubes on control surfaces with success?

Anyone producing them for jets?

I never much cared for them even on glow setups but i have used them on rudders to conceal the linkages but i preferred the RDS over the traditional torque tubes, not sure I'd even use them on flaps or ailerons though.

Non ARF Bandits use torque rods on the elevators, works fine.

They need to be done properly, but then a bunch of stuff in a turbine model has to be done properly

OK,

Then it's my guess guys have four servos located on the underside of the wings possibly in full view?

Is it common for jets to have one piece wings?

you can always turn the servo on its side and only have the control horn exit the wing (which is how most of my jets are).

my Flash is a 1pc wing, so it's not uncommon but far less common then plug in type.

OK,

Then wouldn't allow for a longer horn than necessary?

here's what i was talking about. the servo lays flat inside the wing and only the horn extends out.

My Jet Legend F-20 has a torque tube on the rudder. Haven't assembled it yet but I will be taking my sweet time on that to make sure it comes out correctly.

The Yellow Acft F-18's use Torque tubes for the rudders as well.

Countryboy.

Great set up and kudos to your quality work! Also, thanks for the photos.

Please, what is the measurement from ball socket to ball socket?

That could help me.

Thanks,

Charles

Charles,

Those Mig photos are old ones I had stored on my computer from back when I was building the Mig. The Mig was sold before it was completed and I did not take a measurement of the distance between the ball links. However, that setup is pretty much identical to the rudder torque tube setup used on the old versions of the C-Arf Eurosport ... which I just happen to be working on one. The distance between those ball links on the Euro is 1.3" or 33 mm.

Thanks,

I appreciate the info.

My application doesn't offer me the room or placement for a close rudder servo. I would also like to hide the horns.

Charles,

Have you settled on about 8 degrees down thrust for the turbine/exhaust pipe? Which turbine are you going with?

L. Turner,

Yes, 8 degrees. Still researching the turbine and considering suggestions.
