Anyone ever put an Olympus on a Kingcat?

So my new project turns out to be physically to tight for the AMT Olympus that I bought for it, as such, I need a smaller engine. The only jet I have that I could potentially put the Oly onto is my Kingcat. Have any of you ever put an Oly on a Kingcat? It looks like it should fit ok, I know it's a heavier engine, but I don't think that will really matter to much to the Kingcat. What is the idle thrust of the Oly like? The Kingcat is a floater, if it's got a high idle thrust I don't want to use it on there.
Thanks in advance!

John Redman had a P200 on his years ago and I had an AT400 on mine. same size as the olympus.
you know the old saying....once you go BIG you never want to go back.
idle thrust is no brainer if you keep a positive aoa on the landing approach and use crow braking. it'll be heavier overall and will penetrate the wind better on landing....less floating overall.
i would typically land with a full Mueller Center tank. it fits between the two main tanks and most guys used that as a smoke system. use it as your hopper tank prior to the UAT and land with it mostly full and you'll find it flies / lands better than the lighter configurations (P120/P160 etc)
my .02

Hi Buck,
Thanks for the words. I currently have a 44lber on the Kingcat right now, so thrust certainly isn't lacking haha. I originally flew the Kingcat with a PST1300R which was great except for a ridiculous idle thrust. The Booster on it now has a very low idle thrust and slows down great. The extra weight would help with the floatyness of the Kingcat probably though.
I thought the AT400 was smaller than the 450, guess not though? So you were running another fuel tank beyond the 3 tanks that come with the Kingcat?

No worries amigo, glad to help.
It was a 3 tank configuration but I threw out the plastic center tank and repalced it with the Mueller center tank. 40oz or thereabouts. The mueller tank was used as a hopper tank essentially. I threw a pair of Hayes tanks aft of the main tanks in the space available and used them as smoke tanks (probably another 40 oz of smoke). fully loaded she was a heavy old girl.
the AT400 is an Olympus for all practical purposes.
which booster is on her? the 160?

Dude
you have to put the ollie on there and perfect the slooooooowwww flyby with smoke on, punch the power, suck up the flaps, raise the nose about 70 pitch up and rocket to the moon while belching smoke the whole way.
do it at about the 4-5 minute remaining on your timer and it'll be spectacular.

AT-450 or Olympus has an O.D. of 5.1 Inches, the AT-400 has an O.D. of 4.7 inches...
And BOTH engines have been succesfully installed on a KingCat.
Thrust at idle is 1.3LB (400) & 1.5LB (450)

Few weeks ago I maidened a Kingcat with a P200 which belongs to a buddy from me.
Idle thrust wasn't a problem. We programmed craw: Ailerons 1 cm up en some elevator up to keep it in one line.
The plan was to fly it again last weekend at a meeting. But a german guy had more eyes for his warbird than for the Kingcat. He hit the nose cone quite hard, hard enough to rip out the formers to which the nose cone is mounted [:@].
Here's a vid of the maiden: The vertical (1:50) is about 75% throttle

thanks for the clarification amigo. I could'a swore they were the exact same dimension.
solid engines FO' Sho'[sm=thumbup.gif][sm=thumbup.gif] I'm over 100 flights on my AT 450 between the Boomer and F4 and had over 100 on the AT400 before upgrading to 450 during (cash for clunkers)
trade in program a couple of years ago.
