Amazing plane.... always impressed with your work

What are you planning to do with it? are you making a kit? will it be a horizon product?

Looking forward to seeing it at fresno

Looks Kolibri ready to me! What is the all up weight with the 4 cell and motor? The kolibri with fuel will be about 1/4 heavier at take off and 1/2 lighter at landing.

Looks sweet Justin!

Your model looks very nice! I would prefer it had ducting and I think it would fly even better!

Nice plane... sound sweet with no ducting
is the lack of ducting hurting the flight times and top speed?

Also like the battle feild 1942 theme music...... I've heard that song for many hours into the night

nice job

We talked about pylon racing at the E-Jets event this past weekend.
These would be perfect models for the event!

Great to see it flying Justin. Looking good. You are part of a dying breed. A Jet pilot who can design, build, finish, fly and compete... And be an expert at all disciplines. Not too many of your kind out there.[sm=thumbup.gif][sm=thumbup.gif]

Thanks guys,

I am not that special I could not have done it without the help of and support of my other jet buddies. Special thanks goes to Ad Clark, Addison Clark, Paul Bageman, Mark Taylor and Dan Gill...This was not a slam dunk project for me...I had to have the help of other experienced modelers to make it a success.

Nice work.

Defintely loose the cheaters and add some ducting like the K&A L-39.

You can not have ducting with this set up. There is not enough volume of air for the fan to produce efficient thrust. That is the nature of the beast in Fans vs. Turbines.

Understood you have to trade total scale appearance for good EDF efficiency sometimes. On the other hand, there is nothing scale about a cheese grater on the bottom either. For me, I would rather have over-sized inlets and use ducting. But, as they say, that is why Baskin Robbins makes 31 flavors.

In any event, you did a nice job of it.

Nice job Justin looks great! Great to see you at Montana Jets. Haha by the way we bought that E-Flite Hawk but haven't gotten it up in the air yet. Loved the battlefield music as well.

My Sapac L-39 is 70mm and has full ducting...
I'd rather have the ducts than the holes in the bottom... if you don't hear what customers want you don't get any feed back
So please don't take that a trolling..it looks like a great plane.. I only fly electric jets and I'm always happy to see something new com to the market
There a few makers out there with the cheater holes and I just don't like

here you can see the intakes aren't that oversized and work great
http://shop.sapacamerica.com/browse.cfm/4,1624.html

but I'm sure you'll sell a ton of them

Great work Justin.. Looks like it flies very well. Put me on the list if you decide to kit it.

Ron.. the Sapac L-39 is quite a bit larger than Justin's version.

I don't think it's that much bigger... both are 70mm

This is as close to scale as you can reasonably get. The problem lies in the the size of the intakes. The scale intakes can't provide enough air the ducted fan. Fans are one stage compressors using low aspect ratio props to produce the thrust. Scale intakes are not going to have enough flow rate to get good all around performance cheater holes provide that extra air.
You could lay up some ducts for Justins bird and experiment but the chances are it won't perform too well.

As I mentioned above. The intakes on the K&A L-39 (www.kamodels.com) are not too much bigger and the planes uses full intake ducting which is going to make the model faster and more efficient than a cheese grater cheater hole. I am not knocking this fellows nice airplane, I am just suggesting there may be some room for improvement without compromising too much of the scale appearance from above while improving the scale appearance from below. The risk of FOD damage is also reduce without the bottom cheater holes.
