Default New Jet Central Ceramic Plug

Have been very pleased with this newestinnovation from Jet Central. I received the plugs prior to the Route 66 Jet event. This new plug lights first time, and immediately as the first gas enters the chamber. Irecently bought a supply ofglow plugs that I thought would lasta few years, but tomy disappointment, they are already gone! The new plug promises to ease the pain of buying expensiveplugs, and unreliable starts. They will only be available for Jet Central turbines, so a retro fit is possible if you own one. Availability should be sometimes in October. Just take out the old glow plug, and installlike a glow plug.Turn the plug adjustment to200, and away you go! On A123 ECU battery power, the plug has to be adjusted to 250. Regardless ofwhich battery you use, frustrating starts are a thing of the past with this new plug. For more information...contact Eric Clapp at [email protected]. I'm very happy with mine, and I'm sure you will be with yours too! I have them in the F-4, and F-15, and never a failed start allweekend! </p>

Nice..

"The new plug promises to ease the pain of buying expensive plugs, and unreliable starts." Lewis, What do you mean by expensive plugs? What type of retro-fit would be necessary?

Thanks, Pete

I used Rossi plugs before, and they are very costly!

The new plug screws in just like a glow plug.

The new plug can only be used with Jet Central Turbines, and we do not offer kero start options.

Eric said there would be a kero start option once Jet Central found a plug with an acceptable lifespan and that the programming was already in the ECU. I thought maybe this was that plug.

This sounds something my falcon needs. I had trouble with it at missisippi and Eric replaced some parts. Well I only had one start in missisippi due to me ripping my gear out. Well this weekend in Waco it would not start again. It just will not light off. I think I will try this plug a try.

Hi

Why can the plug only be used with jet central turbines?..their plugs are no different to anyone elses...just that with the gaspar fadec you can adjust the drive to the glowplug...as you have said in the texts

Greetings Readers:

We sent Lewis several of these new igniters to install and use at Rt. 66 Jets. As you know, "starts first time . . everytime" is what Lewis experienced.

As a result of the tremendous success of our internal igniter used in the the VT-90 Rabbit, we proceeded with the igniter for all other Jet Central Turbines. Retrofit is as simple as removing the glow plug and installing the new igniter. I.C.S. software version is necessary to determine if a change is necessary.
Please note:

I.C.S. versions earlier than 5.37 will require customers to replace the I.C.S.
I.C.S. versions between 5.37 and 5.53, will require the I.C.S. to be returned for upgrade
For versions 5.53 and later are plug and play and require only a change in the glow plug parameter.

I.C.S. version number is found on the second screen as viewed with the HDT. Menu up one screen from primary screen. Version is found in the right corner.

We will have a very limited supply of these ceramic igniters at GA. Jets "Super Jets South" next week.
For all Jet Central customers in the north (read that as cold country) we suggest you wait until your flying season ends, then do the conversion if your I.C.S. requires upgrade or replacement.

Cost of the igniter assembly is $50.00 plus shipping. If your I.C.S. requires a software upgrade, this will be done at -0- charge. You will be responsible for shipping to me and return.

This igniter assembly is available to all Jet Central Customers. Your turbine serial number will be required for verification which will be crossed referenced. Exception will be if you purchase directly from me at a jet meet which I am attending.

Please direct all questions to me at: [email protected]

Thank you,
Eric Clapp

Gents,

Seems to me there is a large retro-fit market here for a ceramic plug. One technical detail needs to be checked. Most ECUs are 6 cell Nicad or 2 cell LiPos, does that plug element have a version that works at this lower voltage? My Kerostart Behotec uses a 3 cell LiPo pack at 11.1 v instead of 7.2 v of my JJ, WREN or Hawks.

DW_Crash:

This element works fine with the A123 2 cell pack, 7.4 2s2p LiIon or LiPo pack and 7.2 6c 4000mah packs. I am using the Duralite 7.4 manganese pack with charge circuit. Lewis reports 3 different "first time - everytime" starts using the 2 cell A-123 battery on his ECU. The ceramic element pulls more amps during it's 8 second glow period than does the normal glow plug.

Jet Central does not approve the use of any 3 cell packs in LiPo, LiIon or A-123 batteries for use with our ECU. To do so, will void the warranty and could cost you $$'s in replacement parts.

Thanks for the question.
Best regards,
Eric Clapp

Eric,

When will the plug be available to general users? What is the initial cost? When can I order?

Thanks,

Cost of the igniter assembly is $50.00 plus shipping.
What happens if this igniter/glow plug burns out?? Is it another $50.00 for another one?
