Default Auto Pilot ???

Does anyone know the availability of a true, no *****, auto pilot for use in an RC model?
The price is not important, but dependability and compactnes is.
Has anyone heard of anything out there? Autonomous mode would be useful!
Thanks,
FT

This is probably the best you can get.

Althought not really an autopilot, you have the Gyrobot from Germany.
It was demonstrated at Jet Power and is really amazing, the plane could hold a torque roll without pilot input........

here's the link http://www.lf-technik.de/shop/produc...roBot-900.html

there are also some videos on youtube.

I agree that the Piccolo from CloudCap is one of the best. Its not cheap though and a relatively high level of expertise and work/flight testing is necessary to get it to fly your aircraft properly. Not for the casual user for sure - even if one ignores the fact that you need FAA approval (or Restricted Airspace) to fly one...

Some years ago did some study and then came up with this:

Others might have passed them in development now. Have not made comparison or tests.
