I just went and put my canopy frame on for the first time, and its really easy to miss the hole. the phenolic hooks hold it down sort of.. I had to chamfer the hole and clean it out with a drill bit..

Before drilling or chamfering the hole you should file the hold down rod to a point!!!
Mine did not seem to line up correctly and I thought I would have to enlarge the hole. But then Andy Kane said to file the rod to a point and guess what, It worked perfectly. A little tight at first as I needed plyers on the ball and have to push down slightly on the canopy but after several times on and off the plyers are no longer needed. When installing push down slightly on the canopy frame in the front and when removing also press down.

Just take the motor from the elan and all the stuff from it and switch it over. Even the landing gear will work from the elan. its a direct bolt in.

Yep, Flaps on a Matchbox (using a Behotec valve which is only one channel for gear and brakes)
I dug out the oldest flying Flash in the World today for the CJ event (#1 instructions model) ready for the CARF meeting in a couple of weeks, I realised how much I missed it! Old P120 and still good vertical push.

Pete sorry for your loss
as you know we fly a couple of those on P-160SX.
i also checked our canopy lock , but still rock solid.
i can see nothing wrong , the picture in flight looks ok.
just are you sure the pin actualy went into the sleeve? it happend to me where the pin slid under the sleeve and did not lock it
now to help a bit in your loss , tell me what is broken on the landing gear and i fix it for you under warranty..

Put a piece of shrink wrap over each steering cable. Take an 8" zip tie and cut the block off the end. Loop the remainder of the zip tie 180 degrees and align the loop near the servo, slip the shrink wrap over the ends of the tie and shrink in place. The idea is the zip tie acts like a spring to push the wires to the sides.
I also put a 1" piece of 6mm tubing over the wire crimps at the steering arms on the nose retract to prevent the wires from catching on the bulkhead.
