I just started setting up my F-18 on my 12FGA/6014HS system today and here's what I have so far..
1-Elev1
2-Elev2
3-Ail1
4-Ail2
5-Flp1
6-Flp2
7-Rud1
8-Rud2
9-Throttle
10-Gear (EV5U Pro)
11-Brakes (EV5U Pro)
12-Nose wheel steering
I still need a channel for my speedbrake and 2 battery inputs.. I really don't want to have to Y anything.
Can my 12 FGA take advantage of the 14 channel RX somehow? Are there anyways to get around this? How would you set this up differently?
Thanks! Pete

Pete,
Try a Smartfly EQ 10 or similar power expanders. You will be able to free up a few channels. [8D] Cheaper than purchasing a new radio system. Also, the EQ10 with a Turboreg will allow for dual battery connection to your system.

i use a JR 12x w/ 12ch receiver in my JL F-15, all 12 channels are used and i have the flaps on a matchbox as well as both rudders and steering, it would take 15 channels to loose the matchboxes. good thing it doesn't have a functional canopy

I believe you can do 14 channel with a 12Z / FASST / <span style="font-family: Verdana, Arial; font-size: 13px; -webkit-border-horizontal-spacing: 1px; -webkit-border-vertical-spacing: 1px; ">6014HS. If not, use a Y connector on both rudder. The 6014HS has a special connector for the battery. I usually connect the 2nd battery on the DG1 connector.</span><div><font size="3" face="Verdana, Arial"><span style="font-size: 13px; -webkit-border-horizontal-spacing: 1px; -webkit-border-vertical-spacing: 1px;">
</span></font></div><div><font size="3" face="Verdana, Arial"><span style="font-size: 13px; -webkit-border-horizontal-spacing: 1px; -webkit-border-vertical-spacing: 1px;">Arnaud</span></font></div>

But the 12FG is a 14 channel radio just like the 14MZ. It is exactly the same. Only channels 13 + 14 are not analogue but on-off.
So you can put on one of these channels your speed brake

Yes, you might need a software update, but the 12FG can do 14 channels - the upper two are non-proportional...

you can run the MPDX-1 as well, this can give you another 8-16 low update rate (but fully proportional channels), great for retracts, brakes, flaps, steering, etc.
You will run out of controls before you run out of channels!

Works only with the new 6014HS - not with the older FS version. Have tried.

Lets wait their answer.
To me for now, 2 more channels are enough so If I could use the 14 channels of my 6014FS receiver witn my 12FGA with software update, is OK
I dont know if just with updating the software in Futaba web page is enough for taking advantage of 14 channels receiver with 12FGA transmitter or if it requires a special software upgrade from Futaba.
I also sent a mail to tech support

The fact that the 12FG is a 14 channel set is one of the best kept secrets. I have no idea why Futaba did not publicise it more. The first 12 channels are proportional but the 2 channels 13 and 14 are digital ie they are on/off. On one of my planes I needed to use them and plugged electronic valves into 13 and 14 as they work fine with on off signal. The channels on the Tx are just the last 2 Aux channels after you have allocated everything else. It needs no updates or purchases to work. If you are unsure then plug in 2 spare servos into channels 13 and 14 and see how they work. (Channels 13 and 14 are under the bank of vertical slots.)
If you do get the software upgrade you can name all the Aux functions which is handy when you use all 14 channels. Of course the channels 13 and 14 can be assigned to any switch.

I'm a JR flier myself and my only dealings with Futaba are when setting up planes i build for others but IIRC the 12fg is only 14 channels when using the TM 14 FASST module.

Hello,
I am the owner of a T12FG and yes it is a 14 channels radio as the T14MZ. The channels 13 and 14 are named DG1 and DG2.
I use 13 channels with my Harpoon 2.
I do not know why Futaba kept secret this information.
Best regards,
Alain
