Default In wing mount.

Hello.

I know this subject has been mention before, but just to be sure, i thought, i'd ask the experts here again.
Is the wing skin that was laminated with a layer of carbon fiber at the manufacturer adequate
for mounting the in wing servo mount directly on the surface? Thank you so much.

Best regards.

Oh, not any particular. Just in general design. As with most of the composite layup wings, almost all are
hollow inside with the spar glued in place. This of course with exception with wood built up wings and some
model manufacturer out there that has some sort of wing ribs, or braces for the servo. I was just wondering
if the carbon fiber reinforced wing skin is enough to handle the servo torque, once the mounts are glued in place.

In general I wouldn't count on it. I always cut a piece of 1/16" plywood and epoxy it to the inner wing skin over that area. I make it big enough that it spans and ties into the closest two wing ribs. The servo mount is then attached to the plywood.

Well you could do that, but it has it's limitations. If you do the same thing with a wet layup of carbon cloth, onto the spars and the ribs it will be stronger than ply as well as stiffen the whole area. It is also much easier to carry this operation out correctly as the carbon will lay into the space whilst the springiness of the ply may prevent this.
