Default Fire in the sky

In my ongoing quest for the Ultimate speed machine, I have finally achieved euphoria....

After years of dreaming, staring, wishing, hoping etc, my own personal holy grail of model jet aircraft is coming to light.

My Super Bandit has found a new home, she will be cared for and loved by another jet addict who appreciates finely tuned machines.

Nice choise...or...the best choise. Congratulations!

I'm finishing my own FB theese days, installing lights, P200(nam-nam) and rest of the gear. It's not that hurry because the winter is around the corner [:'(]

My friend build one last winter and if you want some pics; check this link to our Norwegian forum (Jets of Norway); [link=http://jetsofnorway.no/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=70&sid=d4f62021f21dcf04757f891 44c740bfb]jetsofnorway.no[/link]

You probably already know; but it's the best kit EVER - Tom has done a great job with this mean machine!

Good luck with the project

I'm just trying to figger out how Jer's gonna justify having a Firebird and a Liberty. Wouldn't it be funny if in the end he liked the Liberty better. (Oh I can stir it can't I.[&:])

Looking forward to seeing one of these "in the flesh"

You're right that's Ron's firebird now. It's crazy fast! I saw Shewy fly it at the sun valley jet rally.
Can't wait to see your paint job on it.

This must be the nicest looking jet ever. I have never seen one but it seems everyone loves it. How is the flying aspect though? Does it have good low speed/landing characteristics?

From the times I've seen firebirds fly, and talking to smok'n Joe, Shewy, and Ron about it. You should be on your toes landing or the dreaded tip stall will get you.

Well, Ali's was clocked at 298mph and I'm sure Tom has broken 300 with his, don't know how fast mine will be yet, have to decide on an engine for sure first

My JMP Hustler goes 252mph in level flight with only 38 Lbs of thrust. I think the best choice of turbines for the Firebird is the AMT/NL Olympus HP. True 52 lbs thrust. The FireBird was made for speed, it requires a very skilled pilot to get the best out of the aircraft. Dee

If you want to go for TOP SPEED, you should really put a Behotec 300 in it. Same size as the P-200, but with 60lbs thrust!!! I saw the turbine at Jetpower 2009, but i dont know when they will release it.

Or you can go with the AMT/NL Titan at 88# thrust........

too bad you sold your olympus to Dave. although that is exactly what his F8 needs for power! it would make your Firebird a rocket ship

Haha, yeah, I know!!! That's ok, the engine I have that I can put in there now is 44lbs thrust, but I might have a good line on a 50lber, we'll see what happens!
Has Dave run the Oly and flown the F8 yet?
