Was the speed measured at one point both up and down wind or was it average between points? Did you have to get some independent to verify it or Guinness insist on a FAI official being there ?
Well done by the way!

Hey David, congratulations for this record and for your new look. Now you are not Fatman anymore but Fastman now.....
<div></div><div>I hope Reza has the keys of the pantry

</div><div></div><div>When are you comming down to Colombia with Axel to break sound barrier?</div><div></div><div>I am sure Christian and Canario will beat your record

</div><div></div><div>Bring Axel here when you come.</div><div></div><div>I want to organize an event like the DR Caribbean fly in.</div><div></div><div>BRG
P.S.: Did you make angle corrections for the Radar Gun speed measure? If not, maybe the speed was more than that readed by the radar gun
(ground speed) and for air speed do your EagleTree telemetry system read more than 300 mph? Mine has a 300 mph limit in the air speed gauge....</div>

Did Ali not do the same thing some time ago but for some reason it was not recognised?

I also built a plane to have a go with but I decided not to bother after Guiness telling me the the FAI looked after all aviation records and they wanted me to pay for two officials to come from France to witness the attempt. They also would not rely on the Eagle Tree GPS and I needed to hire proper speed equipment which uses two beamed 'gates' a set distance apart. I guess all the red tape involved stopped Ali too.

Note the deafening silence regarding the Firebird’s display in the BVM tent. LOL

David,
Congrats man! After all of these years of harassing you about wanting an autographed picture, I guess it's time to get one for real!
Best Regards, Bill

Congratulations to David for sure.
And just as importantly, congratulations to Tom Cook. To take a design that is pushing 10 years old, and it is STILL the king when it comes to all out performance. Design, structure, and a true commitment to quality have taken the Firebird further in the speed and all out performance arena than any other design out there. In the hands of Mr Shulman, truly a remarkable aircraft resulting in a truly outstanding achievement!!!
Tom, I think you better buy some fiberglass, I would think you're going to have a few more orders on the way!
Congrats to all involved!!!

I bet a hotspot with the right engine can beat it
I bet a hotspot with the right engine can beat it
"For the fastest radio controlled, conventionally configured, turbine model aircraft in the world!
A Hotspot is not a conventionally configured aircraft. I have no doubt that a super clean and small delta built strong enough could potentially fly faster, but we're not comparing apples to apples then.
