It's only a personal opinion but I like the looks of the military versions, you wont regret it,

The Elan and XL in the Navy scheme look really good. Alan got the nose of the Elan right - much better than the stubby noses of the baby, into, Sprint and Nano - though I am sure there are design reasons behend the noses on those.

You are right, The Elan & XL are composite so easier to mould a nice shape, balsa of course is easier to make box shaped!
