Nice Kirk,
now are you going to hold out on us, what's the TF-8000 going into?
Did you see the new multi blade rotor they have designed for it? it ups the thrust even more!

Can't wait to hear about the flight report and hopefully see video of your Hawk. Good luck on the maiden.

Kirk,
Glad you like the plane... It is really a work of art... Each rivet was done by hand and the final build took about 5 years... It is an incredible flying plane powered by a JC P70 which is a perfect match... There are a few videos on the club page that you can enjoy watching this airplane fly and land...
Best of luck!!!

The seams on the fuse have been sanded and filled. The vertical stab has a hump where the built up part meets the glass part. I fixed this with some filler (Photos 1 &2). The wings have a similar issue. They are not level with the fuse (Photo 3). This was also fixed with filler. (Photos 4 & 5). The right wing has been blended with the fuse and the left wing needs the same treatment.

The left wing was blended with the fuse using filler and the hatch was attached using BVM canopy hooks. I need to make some shims to get thefit a little tighter and then use some filler to blend the hatch with the fuse.

The motor arrived today for the L-39 project. This thing is a massive 10,000 watt monster I can see why this system is equivalent to a P-120.

The front of the canopy/engine hatch looks like it didn't come out of the mold cleanly. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to fix it? I could use filler to make it nice and round but I don't think it would hold up to continue removal of the hatch. The other way I thought of is to mix some epoxy and milled fiberglass and use it to fix the area. Would this hold up to repeated use?

Ksonn,
Have you ever tried Z-poxy finishing resin mixed with micro-balloons? You can sand it well, and it will definitely hold up to the hatch being moved on and off.

Shims were made and installed under the canopy hooks. The hatch has been blended into the fuse with filler leaving a small, tight panel line.

I had to take a break from the filling and sanding and give my arms a rest. The front of the canopy/engine hatch looked like it didn't come out of mold cleanly and needed some attentinon. I made a template from polyply, covered it with clear packing tape, and taped it to the bottom of the hatchto give the epoxya base to sit on. I mixed some 30 minute epoxy and milled figberglass until it was a paste and applied it to the hatch. Once it dried, I removed the template andsanded to shape. I happy with the results.

RE: Ziroli Panther
This plane builds tail heavy so moving the fan back using the ducting adaptermay not be the best thing. To get the fan back to where the plans show it I had to "rebuild" the intake ducting so it would fit the fan. A template the size of the fan was made up out of light ply to help guide in the resizing of the ducts. The ducts were split open at the seams and were split halfway down the length at thetop and bottom on the inner section. Wedges of fiberglass were removed and the pieces were glued back together and then seam tape was epoxied over the splits.
