Default Thin Wing Servos

Firstly, does anyone know if the JR DS171 in the UK is the same as the JR368?

If so, how are people getting on with these servos? Any issues? Do they live up to their pretty impressive specs?

The Hitec 125, 5125 are not allowed in my club on flight surfaces due to previous reports and experience of gears stripping. Am I correct in thinking that the 171/368 gears are stronger? Any reports of stripping gears with these servos?

I am looking at putting them on elevators (and possibly ailerons) of Wren 44 powered Comp ARF Spark.

Thanks

Slick

The 171 is a new servo from JR, I haven't used any yet but have not heard of any bad reports. This is a wing servo with multi mounting options.

The 368 has been superseded by the 362.

If you go to MacGregor's site they have dimensions and specs.

I cant see you having a problem using them on a Spark. I had 161's on the elevators on a 44 powered Savex L-39 which is still going strong 5 years on!

Oops, number faff. This numbering system is a nightmare

I meant to ask if 171 was the same as 378 (not 368)!

The 378 is a US number for what appears to be the 171 (as is know by the rest of the world).

Hope this helps

I have DS 161's in both my EDF Sparks (inc the 220+ version) and 3301's in the P60 turbine version. I'm not a big 3301 fan, but they have been fine for 2 years...

I am fitting DS171 to the elevators of the MBA Sabre. Any clues on how these are mounted?

You can snap off the lugs on one side and screw the servo onto a plate/bearer. Be careful though, they break off very easily[X(].

Hi siclick33, I have been using the 378HV's in my BVM F-100 on the leading edge slats and they have been holding up just fine. The hole plane is set-up with HV servo's and i have been using a 5000 mah lipo with no regulators and no problems at all.

Anyone using the 378s?

i've got them on the rudders of my F-15, they work great. the side mount screws make installation a breeze.

I would suggest the MKS6125 the best centering thin wing servo I have come across yet... slightly cheaper than the DS171 too, more powerful and has an optional mounting plate and tiny aluminium horns.
