Default Wanted -History lesson on Yellow, why is it?

why is it that when I see Yellow F-18s up for sale they always say "twin" even though they aren't most of the time. Recently there was an actual twin up for sale that sold, and a the same time there was what was described as a "twin" for sale with a single turbine in it. Both adds said "twin". I always see them up for sale this way when they usually are setup for one turbine.

Also, why do they always refer to these kits as "82". I see the F-18s and the F-14s are called out that way. What is the significance of that? Length or year?

Hi Andy
What you are seeing is
Yellow has a big F-18 and a small F-18
Back in the day these were originally built to fly on a Dynamax/.82 engine combo
The BIG one used 2 fans and the small one used 1 fan
Thus the designation Twin and single
With the advent of turbines and larger turbines the TWIN was capable of running on 1 large turbine
But is still refered as the TWIN to let you know it is the big one

hope this helps
Frank

Ok, what about the "82" designation? Size of the fan unit?
