Battery Cycler Recommendations
Hi Guys.
Let me start by saying I am a die-hard NiMH battery user and I have no intention of changing so lets stay on topic without a battery debate and keep this about battery cyclers.
I have 4 Triton Chargers and they work great for charging my ECU and Receiver packs. The Triton is pretty worthless for discharging and accurately cycling packs however.
I need a good battery cycler that I can use to asses the health of my batteries. I do not care if it is AC or DC.
Let the recommendations flow.....

RE: Battery Cycler Recommendations
When I used to use NiMH I would use the Super Tester from Sirius to accurately Discharge my batteries.
http://www.siriuselectronics.com/ind...roducts_id=347.
I would Charge on my Accucycle elite till Fully Charged then I would plug the Battery onto the super test and in a couple of Hrs it would drain and tell me the MAh that it took out of the battery. Then back on the Accuclycle to Charge then back on the Super Tester to discharge. I would do this 3 times to make sure my readings where the same.

Dom,
Dymond makes a great charger/cycler...and it's right up your alley...it's cheap! http://www.rc-dymond.com/
I have been using the Turbo Charger on my Nimhs and Nicads for almost 10 years and they now offer an updated version that does LiPolys too.
You will be very happy with it.

Litco Alpha 4 is what I use.
It is from the Nicad Ni-mh generation of batteries.
charge - cycle- fast chage - C/10 - trickle and lots more...even does 12V gel cell in my field box
can do 4 batts at one time ac or dc power
you program the "port" for: function~ #of cells ~ Capacity press run and it goes to work.
you find them for sale here on RCU maybe Ebraf too

I'll use nicads until they're no longer available so I'm with you. I have a Spectra 4 charger from Hughes RC. Better than the Alpha 4 because it's available right now...good luck finding a used Alpha 4. Does 4 packs simultaneously...nicad, nimh, or lipos.

WWWWWoooooooooooooddddd! Whatz up buddy?!? The Litco Alpha4 is the way to go. I've been using it for over 10 years! I don't think they are available any more since the web site is down. I tried to contact them a couple of years ago but no joy. Anyway, they still pop up on RCU and actually there was one listed last week! OTT, the Hughes Spectra 4 is the ticket. Plus, if you ever change battery types, the Spectra 4 will support it. Hughes will update the software when needed too. I had mine updates for A123's last fall. One thing I like about both is they have 4 charge ports. The Hughes can even be ganged together for higher charge output if need be. I started using the Hughes about 3 years ago. My only dislike about the Huges is it needs a power supply. So does the Alpha but it came with one. I take ne each on the road with me. 1 for pit use and one for hotel use after hours.

Dom,
You need a Schulze Charger. It handles all types of batteries and will cycle the packs.

I really like the Multiplex charger. It can be set to do up to 5 consecutive charge/discharge cycles. It will also do the reverse; i.e. discharge/charge.
This is a set it and forget it charger. Very easy to use!!

7 years late, but I have a digital copy of the manual for the Litco Alph4 charger. Maybe somebody out there may still need it. It exceeds the attachment limit, so email me for a copy. caj411 at gmail dot com.
