Default DX7 question

Can you fly a jet trainer with flaps, retracts, and brakes with the DX7? Thanks

Yes, it's possible. With carefull planning. You may need a matchbox or similar but it can be done.

I flew my Elan with a DX7 and I did not use a matchbox. You'll need a Y-harness for flaps, elevators, and ailerons. For rudders and steerable nose gear I used 2 Y-harnesses.

There are no sliders on the DX7, so I used down elevator for my brakes by mixing elevator with an aux. channel for brakes. The brakes were automatically activated when
flaps were full down.

I flew a KingCat with a DX7 no problem. Y'd the flaps, down elev for brakes, etc. It can be done. A very robust RF link too!

YOu can get the gear control box from Andy Low and it will give you 9 channels and you can fly a jet on it. I would recommend using the 9 channel receiver though, use the remaining channels for power inputs for dual batteries. It gives you extra antennas for better reception. I would not fly an expensive jet on a 7 ch receiver anymore with the better ones out there. It worked but...

Its not that much more money for the 9 ch TX..

The 9 channels don't all come with additional satalites, although I agree that the powersafe reciever is worth the extra $ in a turbine model

If you can avoid it don't put the ailerons on a Y lead, you can then mix in reflex with down flap and get a much more controlled and slow landing speed.

I flew a Rookie II with the DX7. I had The canards as brakes, thurst vectoring and it works excelent. I now use the same radio for my Yellow F-18 twin and a 50% Challenger. I bought the DX 7 when they first came out and have never had a problem.
