My FB T-33
Here is my FB T-33 ordered through Mike at Global Jet Club. I am done with the radio install and now awaiting the Kingtech K 170.
Set up is as follows
Spektrum 6030 servos on ailerons, elevators, rudder, flaps and nose gear
Spektrum 3000's on the gear, gear doors, airbrakes, canopy and brake valves
Spektrum 12000 Powersafe receiver
JR 3000mah NICD batteries for the receiver mounted as far forward for nose weight
Jet Tronics sequencer
I should have this aircraft at RT 66 as well as Illini Jets

I also have a T-33 only in the Thunderbird scheme. Plan to maiden it Sunday. I noticed you have pilots in yours. Where did you get them? All the one's I've seen are to big.

I am just putting together a FB T33, in Thunderbirds scheme. Have any of you guys had trouble with the elevators? Mine has not got any wooden blocks in to locate the control horns.

John I had no issues with the blocks in the elevators. I had very few issues at all.
KO the pilots are the GW Blue box pilots. I had to remove the seat bottom and the pilot sits directly on the floor. Where are you flying the T 33? I am in Akron till monday

The plan is to maiden it at Mercer Pa. They have a 3000 foot grass runway. Perfect for getting a feel for take off length and landing. I normally fly my Boomerang off a 600 foot runway in Tiffin Ohio with ease but the T- Bird weights 45 lbs dry with a P160 36 lbs thrust for power. With a take off weight of nearly 55 lbs I want the odds in my favor. We also have flying buddies there.
What did your T-bird weigh?
I started to check on the GW Blue box pilots and they don't seem to be available anymore. Where did you get yours?
I have a Dragon Thunderbird pilot but it is way to big. 12" just won't fit.
Are you flying in Akron the week end?

I've got Dragon pilots. They fit Ok and look the correct scale, you just have to chop their feet off.
Best of luck with the maiden.

RE: My FB T-33
Guys,
The dragon pilots do fit if you chop the feet off as I fitted them into Johnls's T33. The trick is to also remove the seat base and only use the seat back. Perhaps John can take a couple of closer snaps of what I did?
Rgds,
Mark

Chris
Have you maidened your T-33 yet? I flew mine last Saturday and all the fears about having enough power and runway length were for naught. 1st flight was text book. Off in 200 feet with 10 degrees of flap, 2 clicks of up elevator and one click of aileron and it flew perfect. Landing (flaps pitch up and require some mix) was like a trainer.
Now the bad news.
2nd flight went like the 1st except when setting up for landing I allowed it to get to slow turning off base to final and stalled it. It went in from 200-300 feet and its totaled. So a word to the wise keep the speed up on turns.
With the heavy wing loading I should have known better and somewhere I lost my perspective.

Ken I have not flown mine as of yet. I am sorry to hear about the loss of yours. I did get the motor (K-170) mounted and ran it last night. I am hoping to find some time next week for the maiden then have it at Indiana Warbirds as well as RT 66.

RE: My FB T-33
Thanks Chris.
The plane will fly and fly well. Just remember it has a fairly high wing loading so keep the speed up on your turns. Straight and level slow flight no problem. The one landing I had it lands like my Boomerang or a trainer.
Good luck and keep me posted.
I would like to attend Rt 66 but its just to far for me at this time.
Have fun.

My FB T33 is nearing completion, would anyone be able to provide the CG position and where it is measured from, other threads I have read seem to be in contention as to where it should be, also if you have the recommended throws that would be appreciated?
Thanks
Peter
Thanks
