Power Box / Futaba 2.4 Compatability

Thread Starter

I have just changed my Futaba 9C to 2.4GHz with the TM-8 module. I was planning to use a Power Box 40/16 Expert... My question is, is the Powerbox compatible with the Futaba Fasst system? I have heard mutterings that the Futaba Fasst system uses a lower signal voltage and the Powerbox may not work properly with it.
Any advice / experience gratefully received.

Hi Phil,
Yes, older powerbox won't work with some futaba RX's. If this occurs then you can send the powerbox back and they will upgrade it FOC.
Geoff.

If your powerbox is suitable it will have a sticker on the bottom I can't remember if it is yellow or greeen
As Geoff said if no sticker send it to powerbox and they will modify it. They did two of mine no problem A1 service from them.

Product Compatibility Advisory:
Warning about use of Futaba 2.4Ghz FASST 6014FS
Receivers with some PowerBox Systems
Last Revision: 04/28/2008
All Futaba receivers with the exception of the FASST 6014FS RX are compatible with all of the PowerBox Systems manufactured to date. The 6014FS has a changed to a different signal amplitude of 2.5v instead of the traditional 3.5v.
All PowerBox Systems manufactured February 1, 2008 and later are fully compatible with the Futaba 6014FS receiver. These compatible units can be identified by a yellow dot on the underside of the unit.
The PowerBox Royal is exempt from this compatibilty advisory, as all Royal units contain the neccesary circuitry to be compatible.
Affected units manufactued prior to February 1, 2008 (Champion, Competition, Evolution, Professional, Expert) can be made compatible by returning for service through Aircraft International or by adding an RRS Module. Units being returned for service by Aircraft International must have been be purchased through Aircraft International. In cases where these units are returned for adjustmant, the adjustments will be performed by PowerBox Systems at no charge, but the customer will be responsible for shipping fees to/from the manufacturer.

If you use an Orbit Power Jack to connect the power box the 6014 will work with it, the power jack is a very convenient way of connecting the Rx to everything, you can remove the Rx without dissconecting your servo's, so if your Rx is above your instalation board and the cables are below any time you wish to remove your board you don't have to disconect every servo lead.

Thanks guys for all your comments, especially Felker with the link........ my understanding now is that it is only the 6014FS receiver that is incompatable with original Powerboxes and as i am NOT using a 6014FS receiver, then I am ok
